[01] Letter addressed by PD President Petre Roman to Romania's President
Emil Constantinescu
In letter addessed to Romania's President Emil Constantinescu by PD
President and Romania Senate's President Petre Roman among others are said:
"Taking knowledge of a series of recent events and facts which have aimed
unfavourable at PD leaders and representatives officials in high public
positions and who have given birth to suspicions both their official
activity and their public credibility being put under doubt sign I request
involved institutions to present CSAT - as soon as it would be possible -
official notes concerning up mentioned cases and steps taken by these for
clearing them, CSAT estimate of respecting country's laws by institutions,
public presentation of CSAT position towards these problems inclusively of
planned steps for eliminate such problems in future". RADOR, August 20
[02] Law concerning juridical aspect of public property has received
notification of Juridical Commission of Senate
After five hours of debates Juridical Commission of Senate gave on
Wednesday free way to law concrning juridical aspect of public property for
being debated in extraordinary session which starts in the middle of next
week. Law's touchstone was article 6 which regulates composition of public
property namely goods which were in state's property in period March 6 1945-
December 22 1989with valuable title. RADOR, August 20
[03] Varujan Vosganian proposes ruling CDR by turns
President of Romania's Alternative Party (PAR) Varujan Vosganian proposes
ruling The Democratic Convention in Romania (CDR) by turns. He considers
this would be the first step towards democratization of Alliance and
clearing up essential, decisional problems for a good politic activity of
CDR. Varujan Vosganian proposed also on Wednesday in a press conference
drawing up of a doctrinary base of CDR which to have studying of member-

[04] Protest actions of Free Unions Federation from Chemistry and
Petrochemistry
Protest actions of members of Free Unions Federation from Chemistry and
Petrochemistry are going on. Trade-unionists from Nitramonia Fagaras have
picketted Trade and Industry Ministry and Ministry of Finance.
Vicepresident of up-mentioned federation Gheorghe Leopea quoted by RADIO
ROMANIA ACTUALITATI has declared present claiming actions aiming for the
first getting of some facilities for producers of chemical fertilizers and
produces for plants' deseases would also take place on Thursday even if
Minister of Finance Daniel Daianu has promised a meeting with trade-
unionists meeting which was planned for Friday 10:00 a.m. hours. Trade-
unionists from Chemical Fertilizers Enterprises "Fertilchim" from Navodari
protested on Tuesday with no success in front of Industry and Finance
ministries for maintaining existing number of employees and to be kept

[05] Premier Radu Vasile meeting with US ambassador at Bucharest James
Rosapepe
Prime-Minister Radu Vasile staying for some days at Slanic Moldova has
invited American ambassador at Bucharest James Rosapepe to a working
meeting in that resort. In a press information it is stressed this is an
usual practice that prime-minister and American ambassador to meet with
regularity for discussing problems of a common interest such as: stage of
reform and privatization process situation of American projects and
investments in Romania, aspects of bilateral relations. RADOR, August 20
[06] AMOCO Wants to Invest in Romania
AMOCO, one of the biggest companies in the world, which recently merged
with BRITISH PETROLEUM, is interested in investing in Romania, said the
representative of this american consortium at the meeting they had on
Wednesday with the finance minister, Daniel Daianu. The talks were centred
on the increase of oil production and concrete proposals for investments in
our country. AMOCO representatives expressed their desire to inform the
specialists from the Finance Ministry about some ideas to improve the
fiscal legislation with impact upon foreign investments in the energy
sector. The AMOCO delegation was led by David Major, vice-president of the
department for International Development in Europe, Africa and Middle East
and Steve Blosom, vice-president for Europe, Africa and The Golf. Michael
Adams, AMOCO's president for Romania also attended the meeting, according
to the reports from the Finance Minister. RADOR, August 20
[07] Warnings Addressed to the Maritime Companies NAVROM, PETROMIN and
ROMLINE
Leaders of the maritime companies companies, NAVROM, PETROMIN si ROMLINE
received a letter of warning from the advocates firm St Claire Roce
Temperly a few days ago. The warning refers mainly to an extreme measure
which was to be enforced shortly, namely the arrest of the ships sailing
under Romanian flag in every port of the world because of the unpaid debts.
