[01] Disadvantages which Bell Helicopters's contract would bring have to be
diminished Premier Radu Vasile declares
During the next Government meeting it will be finished off package of bills
for which Government was authorized for summer and which contains about 70
normative documents - Premier Radu Vasile has announced during his presence
at Constantsa on the occasion of festivities of Sea Service Days. Premier
has also declared to journalists it is to take place a re-organization of
executive body which would also include changes of persons. During
discussions there were also spoken about controversial contract with Bell
Helicopters. "I have also declared many times it is a contract with certain
advantages both economical and military but it has also disadvantages. It
is necessary to be found a way through which disadvantages to be diminished
in favour of Romania but at the same time to permit - what we think it has
to be permitted - a modern endowment of Romanian army" Premier Radu Vasile
said. RADOR, August 17
[02] Works of seminar "Outlooks and basical concepts of liberalism"
"Outlooks and basical concepts of liberalism" is theme of a seminar
organized by PNL (National Liberal Party) since Sunday at Poiana Brasov.
After PNTCD and UDMR which have already organized so-called summer schools
for their members Liberals have also decided to prepare their young
assistents and future politicians one week long. Being present to seminar's
proceedings the first PNL vicepresident Valeriu Stoica has declared this
manifestation takes place in a moment when Liberals have joined in a party
in natural queen of PNL. In Romania it is necessary a strong Liberal party
for affirmation of Liberal values in Romanian environment one of these
being limitation of state's part in Romanian society. Speaking about that
Valeriu Stoica has specified in Romania state has still a predominant
position in economy and in these conditions being on rule PNL has to find
methods for rapid retreat of state from economy one of them being
pivatization. PNL leader has also affirmed at this moment there are two big
dangers which are watching discussions concerning liberalism: on one side
this doctrine to be promoted no more by the Liberals but by parties with
other doctrine such as social-democratis parties; on the other side in
countries in transition there is paradoxical situation it is tried to be
affirmed Liberal values in a non-Liberal environment. "As long as a Liberal
behaviour will not be created Liberal values will be very difficult to be
victorious in Romania" Valeriu Stoica has also said. PNL wishes to remain
in CDR (The Democratic Convention in Romania)but in a re-organized
Convention which to keep intact its chances for winning future
parliamentary elections - the first PNL vicepresident declared on Sunday.
He has affirmed this re-organization means for the first specification of
place and part which any party has to play in CDR. For the second it is
about programmes which are to be adopted by Convention namely defining
politic offers which CDR has to make for future elections not only simple
emotional appeals but concrete programmes specially in economic field.
Valeriu Stoica has also said problem of new governmental structure is
strongly connected with building up of budget on 1999. He has specified it
is possible formulas of Government re-organization to be submitted this
autumn but they would be able to be on operation at the same time with
budget on 1999. RADOR, August 17
