  • [01] PHARE Programme for Promoting Romanian Export

The President of the Romanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry George Cojocaru believes that the actual mentality and the poor management are two of the problems the Romanian economy and especially the exports have to face. Some 120 Romanian companies are to deal away with this problem thanks to a PHARE programme offering 1.5 million ECU for promoting these firms in the export field. The project has been launched in June and it is to be initiated by a Romanian and foreign experts consortium. RADOR, September 17

[02] RENEL Is to Be Restructured

The RENEL general manager Aureliu Leca presented the restructuring programme of the power field in Romania to the Coordinating Council of the governing coalition. According to this programme, the electricity producing companies are to become independent while the distribution companies are to remain under state control. This will avoid financial losses generated by some consumers failing to pay their fees in time. RADOR, September 17

ROMTELECOM signed on Tuesday a contract with the Erikson company for enabling a radio frequency phoning system in the 5th and 6th districts of Bucharest. This will allow to satisfy 10,000 requests from legal bodies for connecting phone lines - the minister for telecommunications Sorin Pantis announced. He said that a number of 95 FM frequencies and 44 local television ones would also be auctioned. Sorin Pantis also said that the average 7.45% raise of the Romanian Post Corporation prices are caused by inflation, but that it is not appliable in case of international calls. RADOR, September 17

This fourth edition's new element is the NETCOMP company offering access on the INTERNET through cable Tv. In this context, discussions will be held over increasing trade activities of economic units if the businessmen are to use the INTERNET system. Another major concern of the Harghita Chamber of Commerce and Industry is to promote economic units with joint Romanian- foreign capital, and create facilities for them to take part in the exhibitons the Harghita Chamber of Commerce and Industry will organize in the future. RADOR, September 17
