  • [01] ROMANIA: Bela Marko's interview in the daily newspaper "Magyar Hirlap"

    "At present we are weak no more. More than this, it is a possibility that Romanian Magyar minority to organize as a real comunity" said Mr. Bela Marko, the president of UDMR in a daily newspaper "Magyar Hirap" interview. The interview was retransmited bu RADIO KOSSUTH BUDAPESTA (28th of June, 6:30 hours). Mr. Bela Marko believes that in Romania's public opinion exists a false idea under which all the problems are solved quickly and without difficulties in the Government coalition. RADOR

    [02] THE REPUBLIC OF MOLDOVA: Mr. Daniel Tarschys, secretary general of the Council of Europe will pay a visit to Chisinau

    Mr. Daniel Tarschys, secretary general of the Council of Europe is due in Chisinau on Sunday. Refering to the importance of this visit, the Foreign Minister of Moldova, Mr. Mihai Popov, was quoting by the RADIO MOLDOVA (28th of June, 7:00 hours) as saying that "it will be a good opportunity for evaluation the bilateral relations. We are proud that Moldova is the first country from the CSI space which has been accepted into the European family. It was both a honour and a chance for us. This chance must came into life through our own efforts" - Mr. Popov said . Refering to the commitments taken by the Republic of Moldova when entering the Council of europe, the Foreign minister said that "a part of this commitments was put into practice, the rest will be fulfilled in a short period of time. The national laws must correspond with the already signed local autonomy European Charta. We must respect the responsibility assumed in 1995". RADOR

    [03] CENTRAL EUROPE: The Hungarian Prime Minister Gyla Horn expressed optimism regarding Hungary's admision into NATO

    "Hungary, The Cech Republic and Poland will certainly be in the first group of countries which will be admited into the European Union" - said the Hungarian Prime Minister, Gyula Horn, quoted by RADIO KOSSUTH BUDAPESTA (28th of June, 7:03 H). The Prime Minister remarks was made after his visit at the European Union member countries summit in Amsterdam. Gyula Horn said that this meeting was very important for the states wanting to became EU members. Refering on delays of EU institutional reforms and on the financial support project, the Hungarian Premier said that European Union works already as a 20 countries organization. RADOR

    [04] THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION: A train explosion

    Reports from Moscow said that a powerful explosion took place in a Moscow- Sankt Petersburg route train. The news agency INTERFAX said that three persons died and other eleven was wounded. According to ITARR -TASS press agency, quoted by RADIO ROSSIA (28th of June, 10:00h) the first results exclude a terorist act possibility. A criminal investigation was launched. RADOR

    [05] INTERNATIONAL ORGANIZATIONS: Kofi Annan's remarks

    The UN Secretary General, Mr.Kofi Annan, was quoted by BBC - WORLD SERVICE (28th of June, 9:00h) as saying that the Middle East peace process is serious threatened by the new housing project for the Jewish people in East Jerusalem. In a report to UN General Assembly, Mr. Annan said that this new buildings are part of a plan aimed to incorporate and transform East Jerusalem into a unique and eternal capital of Israel. The UN General Assembly asked for Mr. Annan's report in last april, after a resolution calling on Israel to stop the building project. After the resolution, the arab diplomats said they will ask UN to press ahead on Israel to stop this project. RADOR
