[01] Kosovar Delegation Works on Consensual Basis in Rambouillet
PRISHTINA, Feb 9 (KIC) - The Rambouillet conference on Kosova entered in
its fourth day today (Tuesday), with British and French foreign ministers,
Robin Cook and Hubert Vedrine, expected to give the talks a push in person
today.
At the end of the week, the six-nation Contact Group overseeing the
conference will meet to assess the progress in the deliberations on the
basis of an interim agreement plan put forward by the West and Russia.
The Kosovar and 'FRY'/Serbian negotiating teams are in separate rooms, with
chief US negotiator Chris Hill and his European and Russian colleagues,
Petritsch and Mayorski, shuttling between the parties.
The Kosovar delegation, consisting by and large of three power blocks, the
LDK, the LBD and the U^K, have been working in unison, sources said. The
President of the Republic of Kosova, Dr. Ibrahim Rugova, is attending the
conference, too.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Bujar Bukoshi, also a participant to the
conference, confirmed the good cooperation of the power blocs within the
Kosovar delegation. Bukoshi said the decisions within the Kosovar
delegation are being made consensually. The Kosova delegation has a three-
member presidency, consisting of Dr. Ibrahim Rugova, Hashim Tha^i Rexhep
Qosja, he said.
[02] Overnight Shelling of Podujeva Villages Reported
PRISHTINA, Feb 9 (KIC) - Beginning at midnight, Serbian forces shelled the
villages of Sallabaj&, Godishnjak and Majac for a couple of hours, the LDK
chapter in the northern Podujeva municipality reported.
There has been no immediate word on the consequences of this recent
shelling.
Meanwhile, local sources said six Serb army tanks left the Dumosh airfield
at 10 a.m. today, and headed to the Tabet e Llapashtic&s, the position from
which Serb forces have been pounding Albanian villages in the recent
weeks.
Serb army movements have been reported today in the Suhareka and Ferizaj
areas, too.
[03] Bodies of Two Killed Albanians Found near Ka^anik
They had gone missing in the last two weeks; third Albanian unaccounted for
since Sunday
PRISHTINA, Feb 9 (KIC) - Yesterday, near the town of Ka^anik, at a location
called "Krivarek&", the bodies of two Albanians were found, Xhavit Avdiu
(54), resident of Ferizaj, and Salih Salihu (1962), resident of Talinovc i
Jerlive village, LDK sources in Ferizaj ('Urosevac') reported.
The late Xhavit Avdiu was kidnapped by unidentified persons on 31 January,
whereas Salih Salihu had gone missing on 5 February.
The bodies of the two killed Albanians have been taken to the Prishtina
morgue and were to be buried later in the day today (Tuesday).
Meanwhile, another Ferizaj citizen has gone missing. Muhamet Gani Reka
(1962), father of two, has been unaccounted for since Sunday evening.
Reka was visiting with his uncle that day. He left his uncle's place, near
his own home, at around 20:00 CET.
[04] Yet Another Serb Regime Devilish Scheme
Local Serb-run security structures to be formed in Prishtina villages. Why
now, when the interim settlement being negotiated in Ranbouillet provides
for the establishment of a Kosovar police force?
PRISHTINA, Feb 9 (KIC) - Serbian regime-installed authorities in Prishtina,
capital of Kosova, decided yesterday to form a new security infrastructure
in the Prishtina villages.
The Serbian press said "local security structures will be set up in the
coming days in all ethnically-mixed settlements, but also in ethnically8
pure ones".
Members of all 'national communities' will participate in them, the Serb
press said.
The reason why such a new structure is going to be established is to
protect all the citizens and their property, the Serb regime argues.
This is yet another devilish Serb regime ploy to drive a wedge between the
Albanian community.
Serb occupation authorities launched this scheme late last year in other
parts of Kosova, recruiting so-called 'decent' Albanians, namely Serb
collaborators to harass Albanians and promote fratricide.
A conference on Kosova is being held in Rambouillet, France, which should
lead to an interim settlement, part of which is the formation of a Kosovar
police force. So what is the need now for further Serb occupation security
structures in Kosova?
