    KORCE, Jan 9 (ATA)- By B.Fejzullai, Several projects on the interborder cooperation among Korca region and border regions of Greece and Macedonia will be applied during 2000, sources from the district council told ATA on Saturday.

    Among these projects can be mentioned the project of cooperation among Korca local government and border regions of Greece and Macedonia. This project is financed by Echo Uverture programme.

    In framework of the Cross Border programme, financed by the European Union, there will be joint projects also among interborder cities' municipalities. Another project, to be materialized during 2000, will be that of protecting the lake of Prespa e Madhe and Prespa e Vogel (border with Macedonia), aiming at the encouragement and development of tourism in these zones.

    This project, financed by the World Bank, envisages the organization of several seminars for the development of the protected zones according to contemporary standards.

    Sources report that there will be cooperation projects among Chambers of Commerce of Korce, Kozan, and Oher, to encourage business and investments. Such a project, financed by EU, through PHARE programme with a fund worth 40 thousand EURO, began last year and will continue also during this year. /led/so/

    [02] Record number of travelers in Vlore ferries lines

    VLORE, Jan 9 (ATA)- By H.Koci,

    Saturday has marked the record number of travelers that depart from Vlore port towards Italy, sources from the district police commissariat told ATA.

    Nearly 1 500 emigrants have been waiting in the premises of the port to go on board according to respective bookings in "Skenderbeu", "Artemisa" and "Niobe" ferries.

    "Measures taken by the order police have prevented the chaos that might have been caused by such travelers influx", the spokesman of the police commissariat said.

    This is the highest figure of travelers ever marked in Vlore Port. Emigrants from Vlora that live and work in Italy since many years, had come to celebrate year's end feasts with their families. /led/so/

    [03] Protection of women rights, priority for 2000

    TIRANE, Jan 9 (ATA)- By Elira Çanga, Protection of women rights as well as the aid that must be offered to them to be integrated into the active life of the country will be the priorities during 2000 of the Albanian government platform for women, published by the State Committee "Woman and Family".

    In this platform have been defined human rights, health, economic and social fields, as the domains in which there will be focused the performance of the Committee and the Albanian Government, to improve the role of women in the society.

    We aim to encourage the participation of women in the active life of the society, that's why we are working to train women in various domains, the chairman of the Committee, Lavdie Ruci, told ATA.

    Objectives of the Committee in human rights domain will be the protection of women rights to be committed in political activities, while as regards the social aspect the objectives will be the elimination of women traffic, and assistance for the victims of prostitution and violence. /led/so/
