[01] Albanian Development Fund invested 110 million lek for five projects in PukaPUKE, Dec. 25 (ata) - By M Malja: Albanian Development Fund invested about 110 million lek for five projects implemented during 1999 in district of Puka.According to the chairman of the district council, the two projects were realised in the city and others in the communes of Qelez and Iballe for the rural roads linking the centres of these communes on the national road." Since now the four projects have been outlined for the coming year, mostly for the rehabilitation of the infrastructure in the communes of Gjegjan, Fushe-Arrez and Iballe. The Albanian Development Fund will also finance for the realisation of these projects. The spokesman of the prefecture of Shkoder told ATA that "the ADF has accorded 2 million dollars for the rural infrastructure also in the districts of Malesi e Madhe and Shkoder." This amount, according to him, "will be divided on the basis of the projects that will be presented to this Fund." /s.sh/xh/ D'Arc Avenue 23, Tirana, Albania E-Mail: Albanian Telegraphic Agency[02] Pullution level from plants gas increasesELBASAN, Dec. 25 (ata) - By M Lulja: The discharge of gases from the plants in the metallurgical combine and the cement factory have increased the level of pollution in the city of Elbasan, said on Sunday the chairwoman of the regional environment agency, Shpresa Banja.For her, the level of environmental pollution has amounted to 75-80 per cent from 50-52 per cent it was previously. According to a study by this agency, the pollution of the environment comes from the plants of iron-chrome, steel, carbon and the cement factory in which the filters used to clean their gases before spreading in the atmosphere, have been lacking. For the solution of this problem, Banja says that these plants must as soon as possible finish the projects for the gas treatment facilities. So far, according to her, only the cement factory has presented the project and in January these projects are expected to be completed also by the plants in the metallurgical combine. /lh/xh/ D'Arc Avenue 23, Tirana, Albania E-Mail: Albanian Telegraphic Agency[03] 20 million lek invested for infrastructure in LibrazhdLIBRAZHD, dec. 26 (ata) - By M Lulja: Some 20 million lek have been invested for the rehabilitation of the infrastructure during 1999 in Librazhd, said the Mayor of this city, Hyqmet Calja.Calja said that 15 million lek from this amount were offered by non- governmental organisations operating in this district and the rest has been covered by the state budget. Almost 65 per cent of the above funds have been used for the rehabilitation of roads, the construction of two new 8 form schools, the reconstruction of the banks platforms of the river Shkumbin in the suburbs of the city. The rest of the money was used for the rehabilitation of two kindergartens, a daily care center for children and the sport complex of the town, the mayor explained. In the mean time, the Albanian Development Fund has accorded 300 million lek for the city municipality, which will be delivered the coming year. The fund will be used for the construction of 120 flats, envisaged to be completed within 2000. /lh/xh/ D'Arc Avenue 23, Tirana, Albania E-Mail: Albanian Telegraphic Agency[04] Dinamo wins Cup of Albania in basketball (men)TIRANE, Dec. 26 (ata) - By A Keko: The basketball players of Dinamo, directed by coach Arben Fagu, won on Saturday the Cup of Albania, whose matches were played in the sport palace Fahrije Hoti in the capital.In these matches, Dinamo won the match played on the first day versus Studenti, and in the two following days, it won versus Partizani and Tirana. Dinamo is now being followed by Tirana and Partizani teams. It was envisaged that 6 teams of Group A1 were to take part in this activity but the teams of Vllaznia and Elbasan did not participate for financial reasons. Now, after a short break, the teams will start the second stage of the national basketball championship in the coming year. After the first stage, in the lead of the classification are the teams of Dinamo and Vllaznia with 18 points each, followed by Studenti with 17, Tirana with 15 and Partizani and Elbasan with 11 points each. /lh/xh/ D'Arc Avenue 23, Tirana, Albania E-Mail: Albanian Telegraphic Agency[05] Some 740 people employed in Has through employment encouragement projectHAS, Dec. 26 (ata) - By Riza Hoxha: Some 740 people were employed during this year in the district of Has through the project for the employment encouragement, said to ATA on Sunday the chief of the labour and social assistance of the district, Myftar Dauti.He added that to this end, the state budget accorded a fund of 21 million lek for the construction of four rural roads, the Vlahe-Muhader, Daut-Gaxhaj roads in village Golaj, Treshan-Helshan and Çelaj-Gaxhaj in the town of Kruma. Dauti stressed that also for 2000, the office of labour of social assistance, in cooperation with the structures of the local government, are preparing new projects for the development of rural infrastructure, which will influence in the increase of the number of the employed. /lh/xh/ D'Arc Avenue 23, Tirana, Albania E-Mail: Albanian Telegraphic Agency[06] About 360 thousand USD by CRS since 1997 for the schools of KukesKUKES, Dec. 26 (ata) - By Riza Hoxha: The US humanitarian association, CRS, has accorded since 1997 about 360 thousand dollars for the complete reconstruction of four schools of the city of Kukes and their equipment with contemporary didactic instruments.The CRS coordinator for Kukes, Agron Bytyci, said on Sunday that along the rehabilitation of school compounds, CRS has financed during the past two years also in the activities to strengthen the pupil-parent-pupil cooperation. In this direction, some training have been made with the aim that the community take an active part in the problems worrying the school today. According to Bytyci, this association also in the five coming years, will continue with sponsoring of miniprojects both in the teaching process of these schools and in the out-school activities. Cani, Police service has been reinforced on national roads in the districts of Gjirokaster prefecture, on the occasion of Albanian emigrants' return for Christmas and New Year holidays.Sources from the Gjirokaster police department told ATA on Sunday that police will especially supervise the road segments Kakavije-Ballsh and Tre Urat-Permet, for their heavy traffic on the last days of December. During these days no criminal act has been recorded on the national road, also thanks to cooperation between the southern commissariats and the frequent attacks against elements incriminated in looting passengers. According to the above sources the police service will be more intensified at border crossings, where looting tendency is greater, also profiting from the large number of people on both sides of the border. /led/lm/ D'Arc Avenue 23, Tirana, Albania E-Mail: Albanian Telegraphic Agency[08] Sarande renews relations with RiccioneSARANDE, Dec 26 (ATA)-By Sh.Hajno, Sarande is reactivating relations with Riccione, Italy, with which it established sister city relations three years ago.Sources from the city's town-hall told ATA on Sunday that two centers, one on blood dialysis and one on the Italian culture, are the projects expected to be implemented in Sarande soon. "The centers, the periodical training of Sarande doctors in Riccione hospitals as well as the setting up of an Italian library in the city were agreed upon to be realised at a meeting held recently with the Riccione counselors," said Mayor Capajev Zera. Zera headed the delegation of Sarande counselors during a several day visit to Riccione, at the invitation of this town-hall. Malja, The volume of constructions in the district of Shkoder during 1999 has increased by 30% as against the previous year, according to the specialist of the investments office close to the prefecture, Bardhi Shllaku.Shllaku said that "District Council for Territorial Adjustment (DCTA) approved for 1999 some 212 construction sites. "Over 80 local construction firms have been engaged in these constructions, worth $2 million, and have employed around 1 200 workers. Constructions have also been financed by the state budget and foreign donors. The constructions include the new hospital compound, to be completed in June of 2000, though a fund of $7 million provided by the World Bank; over 30 health centres in the city and villages, for which the ECO programme of EU have provided $ 900 000; the rehabilitation of the city's aqueduct (first phase), through a fund of $ 5 million from the Austrian Government and other projects. Kabashi, The photo-exhibition "The beauty of Durres" opened at the National History Museum in the capital recently. It was realised through cooperation between photographer Luan Jaupi and photo-model Ermela Teli, both from the coastal city ofr Durres.The photo-exhibition displays 65 artistic photos 30 X 40 cm, worked over the last two months. The 45-year-old Jaupi comes to this exhibition following exhibitions "The Archaeological Durres" and "Albanian Landscapes" opened in Durres over the last two months. While for the 20-year-old beauty Ermela Teli, following trophies won in several artistic activities, this is her first experience as photo-model.
