    TIRANE, Oct. 2 (ata) - By E Nepravishta: The Council of Ministers has adopted 145 laws and and 645 decisions since Oct.2, 1998, when Government Majko was established, stated the Ministry of Information on Saturday through its publication on the activity of Cabinet Majko in the past year of its activity.

    PM Majko has met during the past 365 days in Tirane with 58 delegations of international organizations and has welcomed 29 high-ranking government delegations.

    For the first time, a British Prime Minister, a French Prime Minister, a Spanish Prime Minister and a Dutch Prime Minister, a German Chancellor and an Austrian Chancellor have visited the Majko Government headquarters. /s.s/xh/

    [02] Office of taxes in Gjirokaster realise annual incomes

    GJIROKASTER, Oct.3 (ata) - By Sh Hajno: The office of taxes of Gjirokaster have already realised the incomes planned for 1999.

    The chief of the office, Ylli Shehu, told ATA that for the January- September period, they have ensured incomes to the tune of 650 million lek, from 649 million of the whole annual plan. As compared with the same period last year, the taxes incomes have registered a considerable growth of 60 per cent, he added.

    According to official sources of this branch, incomes for main items such as excises, national tax, income tax etc., have been overfulfilled while from the solidarity tax (for police) the incomes are 5 times higher.

    A stricter control, the fight against fiscal evasion, alaso accompanied with fines have been the main direction of the work of the branch of taxes in the district of Gjiroakster. The changes made in the legislation for the excises during 1998 have influenced in the increase of the import of cigarettes, and consequently, in the growth of incomes from excises," said Shehu. /led/xh/

    [03] Albanian prosecutor's office starts investigation into theft of camp of Mission Arcobaleno

    VLORE, Oct.3 (ata) - By Harilla Koci: The Albanian prosecutor's Office has started inquiry into the theft in the camp of the Italian Mission Arcobaleno, in the city of Vlore, on July 10, 1999.

    Three prosecutors of the Attorney General's office, the chief of antimafia office, Bujar Himci, the chief of judicial police, Sokol Kociu and that of the Military Prosecutor's office Aleksander Goga are in Vlore for three days now. During this period, they have had an intensive investigation work by exploiting various proofs and interrogating witnesses of the event. In addition to this, they have had a long talk with the prefect of Vlore, Tare Hamo, who a week ago made public his options for the event, on the basis of a thick file prepared after a three-week work by the official local structures depending on him.

    According to prosecutor Goga, the investigation is going on well and soon light will be thrown on the theft.

    Some days ago, the investigation into the event had also started in the Italian city of Bari. It made public a video cassette handed to it by the review Panorama.

    In the mean time, prefect Hamo, after analysis and documents ensured from a number of local structures, including the customs house, had concluded that the Italian staff of the camp had caused the great theft.

    The camp of Arcobaleno Mission in Vlore was set up in April this year for the accommodation of the displaced Kosovars. It sheltered 5 200 people until the beginning of July. On July 10, after the Kosovars returned, scores of food items and other materials were stolen from the camp. During the theft, a civilian was killed and a military was wounded by the forces of the sea district of Vlore whose task was to protect the camp compound. /led/xh/

    [04] Creation of new party in Kosova agreed upon

    PRISHTINE, Oct 3 (ATA)-The KLA Political Department and the Party for Democratic Union have agreed to create a new party, ATA sources from Kosova reported on Sunday.

    The name of the party and its initiating council will be made public soon, according to a declaration signed by Hashim Thaci, Prime Minister of the Kosova Interim Government, and Bardhyl Mahmuti, Foreign Minister.

    The declaration says that this has been agree upon "following frequent consultations and in conformity with the indispensability of coordinating the activity for the realisation of our national aspirations and for a modern democratic society", At the beginning of the KLA transformation process, Thaci signaled the formation of a new party, while minister Bardhyl Mahmuti had formed a party, that of Democratic Union. /lh/lm/
