[02] NGO to help improve hygienic-sanitary conditions

KUKES, August 22 (ATA)-By R. Hoxha, The non-governmental organisations (NGO) active in Kukes have undertaken to improve the hygienic- sanitary conditions for the region which extended its hospitality to the Kosova refugees.

A meeting held in the prefecture with UNHCR representatives and two humanitarian organizations, active in the country's northeastern region, discussed the hygienic-sanitary conditions of Kukes and problems facing this zone, which for many months became the most overpopulated area in Albania because of the influx of the Kosova refugees.

Governor Qemal Elezi stressed that Kukes continues to be overpopulated because of the free movement of the people on both sides of the border.

Representatives of UNHCR and humanitarian associations committed themselves to work more on cleansing the town until by the end of December. /led/lm/
