[04] Albanian Prime Minister writes a letter U.S. President Bill Clinton

TIRANE, March 26 (ata0 - Albanian Prime Minister Pandeli Majko addressed a letter to U.S. President Bill Clinton on Thursday. PM Majko writes among others in his letter: "Allow me to express to you through this letter my personal and my government's full support for your latest activity and stands following the NATO air strikes against military targets in the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. Your decisions and acts and those of the administration you are leading, in the most difficult hours that our tense peninsula is passing, have been essential in the course of the difficult process to impose peace on a regime, which, unfortunately, understands only the language of strength.

The Albanian Government and me are completely aware that the decision of the Atlantic Alliance for military raids on Yugoslavia has been difficult and delicate to be taken. But we are conscious that the unilateral blocking of the peace process by Milosevic left no space for political compromises in the spirit of the Rambouillet talks. The present approach of Belgrade towards the developments on the ground is nothing but a reconfirmation that Milosevic is not at all ready to accept peace as an alternative towards war. We have a strong belief that only a resolute and coordinated military action of the democratic world towards the Belgrade regime will bring about the desired wayout tof the peace process in Kosove, avoiding the blodshed of innocent people and the humanitarian tragedy which is now occurring in front of our eyes.

Allow me Mr President, to express to you the faith and profound respect that the Albanian people have today for the duty you are carrying out towards the U.S. Congress for the decision that it took, towards the U.S. people for the values they defend and above all towards those American boys who, in these days, are risking their lives to guarantee that other lives will not be lost.

The Albanian Government reconfirms its unflinching confidence that Your commitment and that of the U.S. factor to the development of the crisis of Kosove is a major guarantee for the Albanians and their hopes for the establishment of peace, prosperity and cooperation in the Balkans," ends the letter of Premier Pandeli Majko, addressed to U.S. President Bill Clinton. /f.n./xh/

Tirana, March 26 (ATA) - By E.Xhajanka - Sources from the Fishing Directory in the Ministry of Food and Agriculture inform that nearly of 82% of the qualitative fish is sold abroad.

This fish quantity has as its destination Italian market. Meanwhile the Albanian market is supplied every day by thousand quintals fish imported from Greece and kept in food refrigerators, which means that its quality is not that expected to be.

According to the specialists of Fishing Directory the reason for fish exporting is the high demands of the markets of the neighbor countries and the high prices as well, which is not acceptable for the Albanian clients.

The increase of fish price is due to the high fuel's price for the fishing boats, which covers nearly 70% of the cost. This price is twice higher than the one in the foreign markets.

Actually in Albania there are nearly 30 fish companies licensed for fish export, placed mainly in Durres, Lezha and Vlora. Last years the Italian businessmen increase their interest in fish elaboration in Albania, because they benefit by low export tax./pas/linda/
