[01] Attacks on Kosove by Serb forces continues, more than 10 killed and many woundedPRISHTINE, August 1 (ata) - ATA correspondent Behlul Jashari reports: Serb military police forces are continuing operations even after Belgrade said the offensive will be over. The newspaper "Dnevni Telegraf" of Belgrade reported today that eight Albanians have been killed and some others have been taken hostage, while three Serb policemen have been injured in the armed clashes near Lipjan, 20 km from Prishtine. Albanian sources report today that at least three Albanians were killed and some others were wounded by Serb forces in different regions of Kosove.One Albanian was reportedly killed in Carraluke of Malisheve and another in Gllareve of Kline. Three Albanians of the village Dush of Kline are suspected to have been massacred by Serb forces after they were kidnaped by these forces. During the past night and also today, Serb forces have blasted thousands of grenades in various directions of the commune of Malisheve. Today too, in the regions of Malisheve, Kile and Drenice, Serb forces have looted and set on fire homes of the Albanians. In the villages Kerrnice and Gllareve of Kile, Serbs set on fire two schools of the Albanians. Different Albanian sources report that during the past night and today fighting has continues between Serb and Albanians forces on the border line with Albania. /sh.dha/das/xh/ Albanian Telegraphic Agency[02] Offensive of Serb forces in three directions in GjakovePRISHTINE, August 2 (ata-KIC) - The offensive of the Serb military, police and paramilitary forces continues in the commune of Gjakove and it is orientated in three directions. In the mean time, sources of the Kosova Democratic League of Kosove in Gjakove say that attacks with heavy artillery pieces have been temporarily stopped.There are no reports of the casualties but homes and properties of the Albanians have been badly ruined. Motorized forces of the Serb army which left towards the commune of Decan last night, blocked today the roads leading to villages Trakaniq, Novoselle, Dobrigje and are taking positions near the villages of Gramacel, Gllogjan, Shaptej, etc. Roads leading to and out of Gjakove have been totally sealed off and no reports are available for the number of the people who have moved from the attacked villages. /cela/das/xh/ Albanian Telegraphic Agency[03] Church, relatives, friends commemorate Greek diplomatTIRANE, August 1 (ata) - By Eranda Nepravishta: A commemorative ceremony for the death of the Greek diplomat, George Dikeakos, ex-secretary in the Greek Embassy in Tirane, was held last Saturday in the Cathedral Church in Tirane.Dikeakos, 38, died in a car accident on July 5, 1998, on the Athens- Patras road, in the place called Dijakoja, on his way to Albania. Attending the commemorative ceremony were members of his family, friends and colleagues. The parents of Dikeakos visited for the first time Albania wanting to see the country where their son worked and lived a part of his life. The mass was conducted by his Holiness, Dr Anastas Janullatos, Arch Bishop of the Orthodox Autocephalous Church of Tirane and Albania. Attending the ceremony also was the Greek Ambassador in Tirane, Prevendurakis, who said: "Dikeakos was a good and experienced diplomat, but above all he was a man with a great heart." /a.ke/das/xh/ Albanian Telegraphic Agency[04] Albanian President Meidani addressed students of Scanderbeg Military AcademyTIRANE, August 1 (ata) - By Enkelejda Koraqi: The President of Albania Rexhep Meidani addressed and handed over diplomas to 90 students of the Scanderbeg Military Academy last Saturday."Our aspirations as a state and nation are peace, democracy, Mr Meidani said in his address. Integration in Europe and NATO are the main objective of Albania and the Albanian people." President Meidani highlighted the new professional and civic culture of the young students, who with their knowledge will contribute to the qualitative revival of the Albanian army. He congratulated the militaries of the German Defence Ministry for their support, experience, culture and all sided assistance.
