[01] Ngjela commission starts meetings in VloreVLORE, March 6 (ATA) - By H. Koci: The investigation parliamentary commission on the events of March-January 1997, headed by Spartak Ngjela, started meetings in the town of Vlore. On Friday, the members of this commission, the deputies Spartak Ngjela, Maksim Hasani, Vladimir Fejzo met with Vlore citizens, who brought different facts from the sad events of last year.Sources form this commission reported to ATA that "a special importance will be paid to the contacts with the leaders of the Association "Unity, fraternity - February 10," who possess different documents on the above events." The commission, which will stay in Vlore three days, has called on the citizens, through the local television channel TV 1 Amantia, to bring in this commission the documents they have regarding these events. /s.sh/mt/ Albanian Telegraphic Agency[02] Local police leaders replacedTIRANA, March 6 (ATA) - The leaders of local police have changed again.Albania's Prime Minister Fatos Nano, based on the decisions of the Council of Ministers "On the establishment of police directorates in prefectures," based on the proposals of the Interior Ministry, has appointed some of the leaders of the police departments at the level of prefecture. Reban Memushi is named director of the Police Department of Vlore prefecture. He replaces in this post colonel Gjon Abazi. Colonel Pjerin Ndreu is appointed director of the police department of Shkoder Prefecture, replacing Lulezim Smakaj. Bilbil Nushi is named director of the police directorate of Diber Prefecture, while Sabri Jacaj director of the Police Department of Kukes Prefecture. Arben Zylyftari, former director of the Korce Prefecture has been discharged from the duty. /mt/ Albanian Telegraphic Agency[03] Mother-country supports Kosova people, says PMTIRANA, March 6 (ATA) - On behalf of the Albanian people and government, I express my condolences to all the families who have suffered and I guarantee them for the indisputable support of the mother-country, Albania's PM Fatos Nano declared Friday in the speech held in the government meeting regarding the Kosova problem."The regime of Belgrade should finally understand that the terror on the Kosova people does not serve not only to the regional peace and beyond, but also to the Serbian people itself, which, although it was on the side of aggressors, has suffered and still suffers, the same as the victims of Bosnia and now of Kosova," said Nano. "The Albanian government will continue its diplomatic and political efforts close to western democratic governments, which more than never have understood that the negligence and classification of the Albanian cause at the end of the pan-Balkan issues, have created today a difficult reality, which will demand more energy, time and exertion to be resolved." Nano stressed in his speech that "Both the Albanian government and the administration of Clinton demand sudden interruption of armed operations, urging the establishment of a special commission for the verification of victims." He stressed that "USA will categorically intervene not to allow in Kosova be repreated the delay of the international community which led to the massacre of Bosnia. The options to reach this are wider." "Albania, said Nano, will continue to support all those steps of the Albanian political forces, which will help peace and guarantee of equal human rights, both for Albanians and Serbs, naturally by preventing traffics of terror and weapons which incites terror." The Prime Minister pointed out that "The Albanian state will strongly influence on the solution and defence of the national cause only by being strong and prosperous," and according to him, the coalition government is serving this aim in continuity. He expressed concern over the latest developments in Kosova, urged the need of an immediate stop of police and military operations and of quick action of the international factor. Andreotti also showed interest in developments in Albania and the region, disarmament of the population and approval of the Constitution. Meidani said the regional cooperation in different fields should go beyond national borders and he expressed his conviction that the National Physics Association through its activity can serve the above goals. s.sh/pas/ak/ Albanian Telegraphic Agency[07] Human rights council reports on 25 killed in DrenicaPRISHTINE, March 7 - ATA correspondent in Prishtina Behlul Jashari reported on Saturday that the Council of Human Rights in Kosova had informed on 25 Albanians killed in the last two days in Drenica by the Serbian forces.The council made public their names saying that four children, two young boys, two young girls and five women were among them. It said that Adem Jashari, leader of the Albanians' armed resistance in Drenica was also killed. The council is also making evident the wounded, destroyed houses and other buildings. Kostreci, Italian Life Senator Giulio Andreotti said in Tirane on Saturday that he disliked speaking of First, Second or Third World."God has created a single world and we should help one another and in this context Italy should always help Albania," he said at a meeting at the Palace of Congresses in Tirana. Andreotti also spoke of politics, history, journalism and reconciliation, recognising himself only the merit of carrying the weight of 60 years of political experience. "I am especially convinced that one who works to create divisions is very successful at first, one who works for reconciliation does not find it easy but, realising it with consciousness, will be blessed some day," said Italy's former Prime Minister, who is visiting Albania for the first time. The meeting was held in the context of the 1st anniversary of the Agreement on the National Reconciliation Government and the 5th anniversary of the founding of the Independent daily Dita Informacion. Not intending to interfere into the Albanians' problems outside the border, Andreotti said: "We regarded with much sympathy the meeting of Albanian Prime Minister Nano with Milosevic in Crete". He considered this meeting very important for a peaceful cohabitation in the region. The life senator stressed that "Parliament should be the centre of the democratic movement". Haxhiu, The Albanian government will continue to engage in defusing tension in Kosova. It favours a fair and lasting solution to the Kosova issue, also acceptable to the Albanian population there, Prime Minister's spokesman Ben Blushi told a news conference on Saturday."In order to achieve this solution the government has urged the Contact Group to mount pressure on Belgrade and impose sanctions on it. It has also asked the United Sates to immediately intervene not to allow the conflict's extension to Kosova and outside it. We stick to the demand for monitoring and investigating last week's events, as the State Department has also expressed itself," the spokesman added. He said that "we are not aware of any opening of corridor by the Serbs in the border with Albania to allow Albanians' flow in our country. So far we do not have any data on Kosovars' flowing in Albania. We will not allow "flood of terrorist elements and weapons on both sides of the border, but we will not close borders to the people directly threatened by the war, " said Blushi. Referring to the Kosova Liberation Organisation, the spokesman said that "the government is in the process of identifying this organisation.
