Referring to an upcoming meeting of the European Union in Cardiff, Kinkel noted during a press briefing that Germany would give support for Turkey adding, however, that this support might be less than Turkey desired. Further, the reaction of French parliamentarian Jacques Myard from the main opposition party of France, the Republican Union RPR, was in harmony with Turkish Prime Minister Mesut Yilmaz.
