NEWS REVIEW, REPUBLIKA SRPSKA

BANJALUKA - At the 5th session of the RS National Assembly, scheduled for May 12 in Banjaluka, delegates should, according to the agenda, discuss work of the Government in the last 100 days, work of representatives in the B&H common institutions and election in RS and B&H. Also the RS Prime Minister Milorad Dodik will submit an introductory expose, "100 days of the RS Government - January 19-April 29". Delegates will discuss implementation and control of election in RS and B&H, scheduled for September 12 and 13.

SARAJEVO - President in the B&H Presidency from RS Momcilo Krajisnik assessed that results of the 4th Donors Conference in Brussels "are promising but there is some suspicion whether it will be fulfilled". "We are afraid of known practice of limitation as it was before, because certain conditions i.e. limitations, can be seen in decisions of the Conference" - said Krajisnik in the statement for SRNS. "We can be optimistic only if both entities are to be treated equally and if RS is to get more assets then before", Krajisnik said.

SARAJEVO - President in the B&H Presidency from RS Momcilo Krajisnik forwarded greetings to all members of the RS Army (VRS) on May 12, the Army Day. "I wish you to carry out your duties in a way you glorious ancestors did". "Our army, created in a time of fight for freedom of serbian people showed that continues with a tradition of Obilic, Karadjordjevic, Sindjelic and other numerous Serb heroes" - is said in the greetings.

DOBOJ - President of the Jewish Municipal Doboj, Atijas Mordehaj, said to SRNA that rabbis of the Jewish community in RS and FRY Josip Atijas and Isak Asiel would hold in Jasenovac a requiem for all victims of ustasha's and fascistic genocide in the Second World War. The occasion will take place on a 53rd annivercary of a breach of prisoners from the Jasenovac concentration camp.

DOBOJ - A rabbi of all Jews in RS Josip Atijas condemned in Doboj "degrading and false calculations about number of victims of fascistic and ustasha's genocide in Croatia in the Second World War". "I pray every day that all mighty God show to peoples in B&H , no matter confession and nationality, ways of respect and sense".

BELGRADE - Croatian general Janko Bobetko claims in his book "All my battles" that action "Sprzena zemlja" in the region of Medacki dzep in 1995, during which 86 Serb civilians was killed, was planed by the highest command of the Croatia army. The action was prepared by a general Mirko Norac and his unnamed chief of staff for whom is believed was Rahmi Ademi. Bobetko assessed this operation as very successful one , carried out according to plan in only four hours. "Complete Serb army was destroyed, some of them run away, some of them surrendered and old men, women and children were let go".

BELGRADE - Yugoslav President Slobodan Milosevic stated that FRY would never accept policy of pressures and problem of foreign mediation in Kosovo was not an issue any more after the Referendum. In the announcement, issued after a meeting with the U.S. delegation, Milosevic said that "FRY is interested in improving of relations with the U.S. on the base of equality and nonintervention in internal matters ". The meeting was participated by the American Special Envoy for the Balkans Robert Gelbard and the American mediator Richard Holbruck.

ATHENS - Europe, occupied by new currency,euro, is not in the least interested in Kosovo, so she gave up this problem to the U.S. which, as the U.S. president had put it, will not hesitate to use force i.e. military intervention - said Greek daily "Elefterotopia". According to current situation Kosovo's problem is very likely to be solved in that way, by military intervention , all the more so, that Europe and U.S. does not want really to find a political solution for that problem - said Greek daily.

RAVNA GORA - Leader of the Serbian Renewal Movement (SPO) Vuk Draskovic indicated that the U.S. could extradite Momcilo Djujic to the Court in Zagreb. As a sign of memory when communist authorities had killed general Drazo Mihajlovic Draskovic assessed behaviour of the international community as "temporary eclipse of the sense for justice", without saying sources of that information about Djujic.

BANJALUKA - The AFP correspondent from Banjaluka Peter Jekinic confirmed to SRNA that "while he was in an official visit to Sarajevo, three hooligans beaten up him only because he was in a car with the registration sign FRY". The incident took place on Friday in Bistrik. A car with a license plate SA-00-444-AA blocked his car when owners of that car started to kick Jekinic. The chase continued through the city until they caught him and started to kick him again. They were holding his hands and legs and were poking him in the stomach and ribs.

BERLIN - Israeli Ambassador to Germany Avi Primor expressed bitterness regarding newest desecration of a monument to the victims of holocaust in the centre of Berlin - DPA reported. "I am astonished that something like that happened in the centre of the German capital" - stated Primor in Berlin. The monument reminds of killing of 55,000 Berlin Jews.

BANJALUKA - The Republika Srpska (RS) President Biljana Plavsic stated at the airport in Banjaluka that her visit to Great Britain had contributed to the RS affirmation. During her visit she had talks with president of the House of Lords of the British Parliament and representatives of parliamentary parties and British Defence Minister. She had talks on the RS future and forthcoming election. "British Foreign Affairs Minister Robin Kook follows the situation in RS very carefully. In Great Britain I had talks with the American Special Envoy for the Balkans Robert Gelbard who had informed me on favourable outcome of the Donors Conference in Brussels" - said Biljana Plavsic.

KOZARSKA DUBICA - On the occasion of 53rd anniversary of a breach of the Jasenovac concentration camp, in Kozarska Dubica in Donja Gradina - the biggest place of execution of the Jasenovac concentration camp - a requiem will be held for all victims of the ustasha's genocide. "We are standing now on the most horrifying place of execution in the world and in the most exalted place of human fight against death" - said the RS Prime Minister Milorad Dodik. "We hope that justice will come and punish the killers and the future will destroy dark ideology on which base these crimes had been committed". President in the B&H Presidency from RS Momcilo Krajisnik said that Gradina and Jasenovac became a symbol of suffering in the Independent State of Croatia (NDH) during the Second World War when NDH wanted to destroy all Serbs. "We can forgive, but we must not forget" - said Krajisnik paraphrasing late patriarch Mr. German.

BIJELJINA - President of the Serbian Radical Party (SRS) Nikola Poplasen stated in Bijeljina that the SRS "is ready to support the RS Government until election in September in RS and FB&H on the condition not to sign documents that destroy RS". Poplasen thinks that the new Government has a series of mistakes, omissions and bad moves crucial for RS". He announced that the SRS would demand from the Government to explain on what conditions and when RS must pay off credits given by the international community.

SIPOVO - On the occasion of the RS Army Day - May 12 - in a Church of Sveti Jovan Krstitelj in Sipovo a requiem was served for 147 killed soldiers from the Sipovo Municipality.

BIJELJINA - On the central city graveyard "Pucile" in Bijeljina , on the occasion of the RS Army Day May 12, a requiem was held for killed soldiers in the last war. A requiem was held in Batkovici near Bijeljina. The occasion was opened by the assistant commander of a third corps, colonel Dusan Tomic.

BRCKO - Unnamed person attacked in Brcko around 05:50a.m. two older Serbs - Zivko Milanovic,66, and Nenad Djuric,64,. After that an attacker went to Omerbegovaca, settlement of Muslim returnees from B&H. Milanovic and Djuric were both slightly injured, SRNA has learned from a police station in Brcko.

PRIJEDOR - In the organisation of the UNHCR, more than 200 Muslim from the region of Sanski Most from B&H visited Petrovo, Kuduzovice, Jakupovice, Bastaste, Varmaze, Cerice and Donja Cela in the region of the prijedor Municipality. The visit went through without incident.

SRBINJE - Around 180 Muslims from B&H visited Muslim cemetary Tekija in Srbinje and a visit was without any problems - SRNA correspondent reported. Their stay was organised by representatives of the Municipal authorities and international organisations.

PETROVO - Initiative Board on forming of the Party of Independent Socialdemocrats (SNSD) in Petrovo has been formed and Slobodan Majstorovic was appointed president. Radojka Lucic was appointed vice-president and members are Jovo Nikolic, Mara Topalovic, Andjelka Majstorovic and Zeljko Lucic.
