NEWS REVIEW, REPUBLIKA SRPSKA

BANJA LUKA - The President of Republika Srpska /RS/ Biljana Plavsic talked in Banja Luka with the first deputy of high representative of international community Jacques Klein about preparations for second continuation of the inaugural session of the National assembly /NA/ of RS on January 12, in Bijeljina. At the end of talks with Mr.Klein, president Plavsic expressed hope that in Brcko, in a framework of celebration of the Day of RS, will be done preliminary talks for continuation of the NSRS session, on which will be removed obstacles for establishing the direct telecast of the session.

SARAJEVO - The president in Presidency of B&H from RS Momcilo Krajisnik talked in Pale with the assistant of the High Civilian Representative to B&H Boris Habirov about the current political situation in Srpska. On this occasion Mr. Habirov congratulated the Christmas holidays to Serbian people, and visited the premises of the Serbian Press Agency.

SARAJEVO - The president of RS Government Gojko Klickovic assessed that 1997 was the year in which much was done in the process of revitalisation of economy in RS, accommodation of refugees and displaced population, solving social problems as well as renewal and construction housing units and traffic infrastructure. At the press conference in Serbian Sarajevo he explained that the government has realised all that was drafted at the beginning of the year 1997 and accentuated that best results were reached in the process of revitalisation of the production and employment.

BANJA LUKA - The employees of the Serbian Radio-TV /SRT/ -studio Banja Luka categorically rejected the initiative on establishing the international supervisor in this studio and making individual contracts about employment in the Office of the High representative in Sarajevo, is learned from the sources close to SRT in Banja Luka, and is reported in the review of the SRNA journalist.

BELGRADE - The president of Serbian Radical Party /SRS/ Vojislav Seselj stated in Belgrade that radicals are not avoiding the compromise in negotiations about forming new government of RS, but they have the precise and stance of principle. The leader of radicals stated that in case if the variant of concentrated, i.e. government of the national unity, was accepted SRS will require that in that be so many ministers as of percentage in National Assembly, and this principle is related to other parties too.

BELGRADE - The president of Democratic Party of Serbia Vojislav Kostunica sent, on the occasion of the RS state Day the congratulation to the president of National Assembly NA RS Dragan Kalinic expressing the wish to be preserved and strengthened "for the benefit of all Serbs".

BELGRADE - The agreement of State Department and Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia and Rwanda, which anticipates the extradition of the persons against whom was raised the indictment for war crimes, is unconstitutional act because previously did not pass the appropriate Congress procedure - stated the Belgrade's lawyer Igor Pantelic.

NOVI SAD - The applications for registering into the Main book of citizens and for accepting Yugoslavian citizenship could be submitted also this year, in the same way like until now, announced the Service for information of the Secretariat for Internal Affairs in Novi Sad.
