NEWS REVIEW, REPUBLIKA SRPSKA

BANJA LUKA - In the talks of president of Republika Srpska /RS/ Biljana Plavsic with U.S. Ambassador to B&H Richard Clausarich and representatives of U.S. government in charge for media in Banja Luka is given the stance that all parties and independent candidates should have equal treatment and approach to the media in electoral campaign. The problems related to the establishing TV signal in eastern part of Republika Srpska is considered too, with the aim of enabling adequate electoral campaign which would start next week.

BANJA LUKA - The president of RS Biljana Plavsic received in Banja Luka the head of General Staff of RS Army general-major Pero Colic, who acquainted the supreme commander of military forces with the degree of realisation of planned tasks during this year in equipping and training army. At the meeting was talked about the problems in development of RS Army in accordance with planned objectives, and general Colic stressed that army during this year realised all service tasks besides all objective difficulties.

BANJA LUKA - The Head of General Staff of RS Army Generalmajor Pero Colic congratulated the participants of the joint military exercise "Autumn '97" for shown success and stressed that by "this exercise was shown that Serbian Army is able and strong, what through history always was".

SARAJEVO - The president from RS in Presidency of B&H Momcilo Krajisnik and deputy minister of Foreign Affairs in the Council of Ministers of B&H Dragan Bozanic warned in Pale that RS is under the great propaganda pressure and that are frequent unfounded accusations on account of state and part of its political leadership. According to Bozanic, he and president Krajisnik, at the meeting with the deputy minister of Foreign Affairs of Great Britain Tony Loyd accentuated that the RS leadership is for full implementation of Dayton Agreement and concluded that international community accuses only Serbian party for obstruction of work of joint organs, although they know that rs is not guilty for that.

KOTOR VAROS - The president of RS Government Gojko Klickovic promised in Kotor Varos that RS government will maximally engage itself to provide the necessary prerequisites for normal functioning of production in two greatest economic enterprises - the State enterprise "Provex" and engine enterprise "Jelsingrad". In talks with the representatives of political and economic life of this municipality, concluded that this region of RS has a enormous forest resources which must be used in the best way and promised that Government will help to the Forest enterprise "Vrbanja" in opening exploitation of new forest sections.

BELGRADE - the statement of the High Representative for civil affairs Jacques Klein that "there are the real prospects that RS Army will enter into the programme "equip and train", represent the positive step and good move of international community, assessed the foreign-military commentator Miroslav Lazanski. In the statement for SRNA he assessed that "for RS Army and RS it would be very good thing" and added that "in this moment RS Army has no sure dealers of armament and military equipment from broad, and can't lean on any certain procurers, as in the East so in some other regions".

AMSTERDAM - The witnesses of the prosecution of Tribunal in Hague at the trial to indicted for war crimes against Serbian civilians in Moslem detention camp Celebici confirmed that the General Staff of the Army of B&H and military summit in Sarajevo were acquainted with all events in that camp.

PODGORICA - The president of Montenegro Momir Bulatovic and the chief of monitoring mission of European Union for the former Yugoslavia Dan Everts assessed in Podgorica that the democratic solution of the Montenegrin political crisis would represent the significant step towards the stabilisation of the political situation and further democratic development.

PODGORICA - The president of Republic Montenegro Momir Bulatovic assessed during talks with Italian Ambassador to FR Yugoslavia Ricardo Sasso in Podgorica that all current political problems in Montenegro are directed towards destroying political order in Republic.

PODGORICA - The president of Assembly of Montenegro Svetozar Marovic after the talks with Italian Ambassador Ricardo Seso in Podgorica expressed the conviction that "tomorrow's session of Montenegrin Parliament, which has to be held in Cetinje, will contribute to the calming of passions and affirmation of the will of citizens".

SARAJEVO - The President of National Assembly of RS Dragan Kalinic and assistant of the minister for Foreign Affairs of Great Britain Toni Loyd assessed in Pale as the positive the past local elections and accentuated that their results must be faster implemented. As announced from the cabinet of president of Assembly, they talked also about the privatisation in RS and British diplomat suggested that this process would be stopped until finishing the parliamentary elections.

SARAJEVO - The president of National Assembly of RS Dragan Kalinic, vice- president of RS Government Velibor Ostojic and member of Provisional Electoral Commission Slobodan Kovac warned the political directors of OSCE Robert Elekman and Vladimir Kuznietzov that the temporary state of RS media before elections unacceptable. As stressed in the announcement from the Cabinet of president of NS RS the representatives of the Government required during the meeting with the political directors of OSCE in Sarajevo that this problem must be solved immediately, so all parties in political conflict in RS would be provided with the adequate approach to the media.

BRCKO - In Brcko settlement of the Fifth Kozara Brigade started the rehabilitation of the church damaged in the terroristic act performed two days ago - stated for SRNA the priest Slavko Maksimovic. Because of this terroristic act The Executive Board of the Municipal Assembly of Brcko gave order about the urgent undertaking measurements on the physical protection of vital objects in the city, and last night again started to work the street lights.

PRISTINA - Beside the student's protests organised in Pristina settlement Velanija, the Albanian extremists tries to organise protests in more Kosmet's cities, but no one of five conditions for coming out on elections was not fulfilled.
