SEPT. 29 1997 DAY

NEWS REVIEW, REPUBLIKA SRPSKA

SARAJEVO - The chairman of the House of Representatives of the B-H Parliamentarian Assembly, Slobodan Bijelic, stated that announcing postponement of the parliamentarian election for November 2, Republika Srpska (RS) president Biljana has already has violated the Belgrade agreement. "I do not know what has urged Ms Plavsic to in this moment defer the parliamentarian elections and thus violate something what she signed", Bijelic stated, and added that the postponement of the parliamentarian elections should be addressed by all signatories to the Agreement. According to him, this unilateral act could contribute to further polarisation of RS and an harmful flaring-up of the political zeal already abated by an adequate political move, such as the Belgrade agreement.

NOVI SAD - In the implementation of the Dayton Agreement thus far, its key elements guaranteeing independence and autonomy of RS were preserved, but in the coming period RS must as quick as possible deal with its internal problems in a democratic way by harmonising its and interests of other entities, stated Dragan Bozanic, deputy foreign minister in the B-H Council of Ministers, for the Novi sad daily "Dnevnik". He mentioned that the implementation processes were at a serious turn. "In the last two months we showed a large amount of cooperativeness with the international community, because of which we faced pressures by our own people. There is a belief that some declined results of the Serbian Democratic Party (SDS) at the local elections are the mere result of this cooperativeness", Bozanic stated.

BRCKO - The issuing of the RS identity cards was continued in the Brcko bordering community of Brod for the Muslim returnees living in this area, this was confirmed in the Brcko city police station, according to which, about 146 Muslim families live in Brod, and RS ID cards were obtained last weekend by 28 Muslims.

DOBOJ - Doboj mayor, Drago Ljubicic, sharply condemned the mining of the offices of the independent paper of "Alternative", which is owned by representative in the RS National Assembly, Milovan Stankovic. "In the name of the Doboj institutions I condemn his act and expect that the legal and judicial bodies effectively act and find perpetrators", reads an announcement of Doboj mayor Drago Ljubicic.

DOBOJ - RS allied leftists condemned the mining of the "Alternativa"'s offices in Doboj, and asked for a more active role of the international factors in preventing such and similar acts of terrorism in this city.

SARAJEVO - The session of the RS Supreme Defence Council, which should have taken place in Pale, was adjourned, this was announced in the cabinet of the president in the B-H Presidency from RS.

BIJELJINA - The vice-president of the Serbian National Alliance Svetozar Mihajlovic, assessed in Bijeljina that the Belgrade Agreement offered solution to the political crisis in RS and that it was welcomed among the Serb people with a relief. Mihajlovic announced at a press conference the postponement of the parliamentarian elections for November 23, which, would, as he underlined, lead to postponement of presidential elections, as well.

BEOGRAD - The editor-in-chief of the Serb Radio-TV (SRT), Drago Vukovic stated that the provisions of the Belgrade agreement on unique media coverage in RS was realised both on technical and information levels, but not on the editorial level.

SARAJEVO - While commenting an agreement between the representatives of the Muslim and Herzeg-Bosnia Soccer Associations on formation of future unique B-H soccer league, deputy RS minister for youth and sport Drago Buha stated that RS did not accept a suggestion concerning the unique B-H league. "RS representatives did not even attend the meeting, while the proposals by the Muslim and Herzeg-Bosnia Soccer Associations will be considered after we receive the text of the agreement", stated Drago Buha.
