NEWS REVIEW, REPUBLIKA SRPSKA

BEOGRAD - The president in the B-H Presidency, Momcilo Krajisnik, stated for the Spanish paper "Paris" that the Muslim "could not win local elections in any municipality, except if they voted in a number larger than that registered for polling". "We know with certainty the number of registered Muslim voters in every municipality", stated Krajisnik, reports "Dnevni Telegraf" and quotes him saying that "in some places many manipulations and irregularities were noted". "If the Muslims win in any of Serbcontrolled municipalities they will take over their posts", Krajisnik stated and warned that "all falsified ballots must be eliminated".

BANJALUKA - RS president Biljana Plavsic talked in Banjaluka with the Czech ambassador to B-H and Croatia, Ondzhei Havlin, on municipal and parliamentarian elections in RS. Following their meeting behind the doors, Plavsic pointed out that she exchanged views with Halvin concerning the democratisation process in RS. The Czech ambassador valued peaceful and fair electoral procedure in RS.

SARAJEVO - The B-H Presidency session in Lukavica will deal with the pending issues from its last session - appointment of ambassadors from RS and the Federation of B-H, Law on citizenship and Law on passports, and the World Bank loans related issues. The Presidency members will analyse the UN General Assembly session, as well as B-H participation at the Council of Europe session, top be held in October.

BRCKO - Col Cambridge, official from the High Representative Office responsible for economic issues, promised in Brcko that no discrimination would take place in the employment process, and that more funds would be invested in Brcko firms which would better the stabilisation of the economic, social and also the political crisis. According to the president of the Municipal Union, Ilija Kalajdzic, who held discussion with Cambridge, "the Office of High Representative pledged to intermediate in faster and more efficient issuance of working documentation of refugees from the Federation of B-H, among whom the most affected being the workers who had the right to retirement.

SARAJEVO - The preliminary results of the municipal elections in RS and Federation of B-H would be announced by mid next week, stated OSCE spokesman David Foley in Sarajevo. He said that after the polling, a row of circumstances occurred additionally slowing down the sorting and counting of ballots, so the initial deadline for announcement of the results was somewhat prolonged.

SARAJEVO - RS minister of trade and supply, Mladjen Cicovic, warned in Pale that the municipal market inspection did not work in accordance with the Law, and that municipal market inspections apply laws brought by municipal authorities, but not laws on the Republic level. "The RS Market Inspection agreed to intensify its efforts, first of all inspection supervision over the municipal market inspection, in order to contribute to the functioning of the complete the market inspection system", Cicovic explained.

BANJALUKA - Banjaluka mayor Savo Cuk, held meeting in Banjaluka with Hans Kooks, the chief of the EU Observing Mission Coordination Centre, presumably on the local elections and their further implementation in Banjaluka.

ATHENS - The Greek deputy in the European Parliament, Katarina Daskakli, who was present as an observer at the local elections in B-H, is satisfied with the voting which took place without major problems, but warned at the problem of Brcko. "There are fears that it would not be the case when new authorities assume their offices", stated Ms Daskakli, for the largest Greek Radio station "Sky", and explained that the local offices would be shared between main national parties and minor ones, so that the cooperation between the two "will be impossible".

NOVI SAD - All aims of the Yugosalv economic policy would be realised by the end of this year, including the market-formed prices and stable dinner, announced the Yugoslav minister for internal trade, Milorad Maskovic. In an interview for the novi Sad's "Nedeljni Dnevnik", he said that "the law on free price forming on the base of market supply and demands is in stage of a working draft law."

MOSTAR - Fifty persons, among whom 25 lighter, were injured in a bomb explosion last night, confirmed the Croat Radio. Doctors in the Mostar hospital, where the injured were admitted after the blast, said that 28 injured received medical care and that they were not in life-threatening condition, while one seriously injured person was transferred by SFOR helicopter to Split.

MOSTAR - The car-bomb explosion in the Croat part of Mostar, in which 29 persons were injured, is a deed of Islamic terrorists, so many times seen in the Near East, Liban and Israel, claims Croat Radio Herzeg-Bosnia. It said that "it was not an unexpected event, for hundreds of Mujaheddin, many of them trained in Hamas and Hesbollah terrorist training camps, have been wandering Bosnia for months."
