NEWS REVIEW, REPUBLIKA SRPSKA

KOTOR VAROS - The president of Republika Srpska (RS) Biljana Plavsic, stated in Kotor Varos that the situation in the Republic is "worrying", and warned that "all those who launched lies and libels on my account will be called to account when the situation in RS get stabilised". After discussing the political-security situation in RS with Kotor Varos officials for four hours, president Plavsic stated: "The Municipality leaders acquainted me of disinformation disseminated over the past few days by the topleaders from Pale, discrediting the RS president and undervaluing its institution in an utterly transparent way".

SARAJEVO - The president of the RS National Assembly, Dragan Kalinic, sent an open letter to the RS president Biljana Plavsic, regarding the accusations she stated against him at yesterday's meeting in Derventa: "Ms Plavsic, I have several times appealed on you to stop a public confrontation with the National Assembly and with me, personally, but my hopes that you will do so seemed to be in vain, especially after your oral consent to stop with mutual accusations until the RS Constitutional Court decides on disbandment of the RS Assembly. In stead, you used the opportunity at yesterday's meeting in Derventa to say the following: 'The RS National Assembly is governed by a man who indebted RS from its hard currency reserves, and who took DEM 17,000,000 loan in Italy'". Kalinic requests president Plavsic to prove her accusations, otherwise he will ask for a legal action.

RUDO - The RS prime minister, Gojko Klickovic, stated in Rudo that RS Government would make an emergency investment to start-up the production in industrial factories Rudo, strategically important city which cuts off the "green transversal".

NOVI GRAD - "The RS Government does not constrain the opening of the border crossings towards Croatia and further to the West. Borders should be opened as soon as this summer", stated RS vice-premier Ostoja Kremenovic, after talks with Novi Grad leaders, attended by second vice-premier Djuradj Banjac.

SARAJEVO - The RS senator, Momir Vojvodic, said that all those empowered, elected by the RS citizens, should forget their conceit and prestige, because survival of a single Serbian national state - RS must be the main interest of all, and added that "The Serbs from around the world follow the present developments in RS with a grave concern".

BANJALUKA - The RS Union believes that the current dispute in the RS leadership must be resolved in a democratic way subject to RS Constitution. The Union president, Cedo Volas, sent a letter to RS president Biljana Plavsic, president in the B-H Presidency from RS, Momcilo Krajisnik, and RS prime minister Gojko Klickovic, saying that "nobody has the right to inhibit the post-war recovery of the RS and keep the workers on a low living standard."

SARAJEVO - OSCE registered "new manipulations in the voters registration for the local elections in B-H, scheduled for September", stated OSCE spokesman David Foley. He said additional nine candidates from three main parties in B-H were moved from the lists of candidates because they produced false documents on place of habitation.

BANJALUKA - The president of the Serbian Intellectual Forum, Mladen Ivanovic, stated that the pointing out at ostensible traitors is fatal for the survival of RS.

BEOGRAD - The Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS) issued a protested regarding the information on deteriorated health condition of Dr Milan Kovacevic, indicating at a fact that after general Djukic, this is one more patient in the Hague Tribunal's prison. "This speaks of Tribunal's criteria barely understandable not only from a legal, but also from viewpoint of elementary humanity", says the DSS communique.

SARAJEVO - The decision of the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) to form a community of three Croat municipalities in Mostar directly introduces a definite division of Mostar into Western, Croat and Eastern, Muslim part of the city. Media in Sarajevo assess that this division will not be prevented even by formation of the joint Muslim-Croat police, planned to start functioning on Monday , July 21.
