JULY 13 1997 DAY

NEWS REVIEW, REPUBLIKA SRPSKA

PRIJEDOR - In Prijedor the commemoration was held regarding the murder of Simo Drljaca, former chief of Police in Prijedor and recipient of the Kardjordje's Star of First Order.

NOVI GRAD - July 14, 1997, was called for mourning day in the Novi Grad area, regarding the heroic death of Simo Drljaca, former police chief in Prijedor, and one of the most deserving defenders of Novi Grad at the end of war.

BEOGRAD - The brutal murder of Simo Drljaca, the chief of Prijedor police definitely shows that the great powers, for the sake of their own interest, do not restrain from violation of the international law, human freedoms and rights and sovereignty and rights of states and peoples", warns the Serb Truth Fund. In the letter of protest forwarded to the UN Security Council, UN secretary-general and EU, the Fund said that events in Prijedor represent one in a row of unprecedented hostile acts against the Serbs".

SARAJEVO - SFOR acknowledged that British soldiers, who arrested the director of Prijedor hospital, Dr Milan Kovacevic, carried a package with the Red Cross sign, but SFOR specified that sign was used by sanitary authorities to mark the civil and military packages with medicines.

SARAJEVO - ICRC representative called upon SFOR Command to undertake necessary measures so as to prevent incidents similar to that of Thursday, when SFOR soldiers used a package with Red Cross symbols to arrest Milan Kovacevic. "Such situations can compromise ICRC efforts to carry out its humanitarian mission in a neutral and impartial manner", says an announcement.

SARAJEVO - Despite being in possession of a complete documentation on crimes the Croat soldiers committed against Serb civilians in Gospic, Medacki Dzep, Pakracka Poljana, Marvino Selo and other places in the Krajina and Western Slavonija, the Tribunal did not bother itself by indicting those who committed these crimes. Agencies remind their readers that, without strong evidence, the Tribunal kidnapped and transported the former Vukovar mayor Slavko Dokmanovic to the Hague, but did not find it appropriate to indict Dokmanovic's predecessor, Croat Special Police Forces Commander, Tomislav Mercep, evidence on whose crimes, committed against the Serbs in time between 1991 and 1993, was made available to the Tribunal.

PODGORICA - The president of the National Assembly of Monte Negro, Svetozar Marovic, stated for "Primorske Novine" that Monte Negro was opted for life in Yugoslavia, and that it would not allow to be governed by an individual. Being asked how he sees Monte Negro after the rift in the Democratic Party of Socialists, Marovic said "Monte Negro believes in democratic reformist and open Yugoslavia, in which it will find an equal and dignified place".
