APRIL 18 1997 EVENING

NEWS REVIEW, REPUBLIKA SRPSKA

SARAJEVO - The members of the B-H Presidency, Momcilo Krajisnik, Kresimir Zubak and Alija Izetbegovic, talked in Sarajevo with NATO secretary-general Javier Solana and ambassadors of 16 NATO countries about further implementation of the Dayton agreement. President Krajisnik assessed the meeting as useful, pointing out that the NATO representatives were informed of the problems in the implementation of the Dayton agreement in relation to political manoeuvres of the Federation of B-H, which intends to evade its obligations and accuse Republika Srpska of negligence.

PRIJEDOR - The RS Government delegation visited Prijedor where it held talks on the political-security situation in the city and works on the Samac-Bijeljina railroad.

PRIJEDOR - The first vice-president of the Serbian Democratic Party (SDS), Aleksa Buha, stated in Prijedor, in his reaction to rumours that "this city is going to be sacrificed", that "the state leadership will decidedly defend RS territory by all political means".

BANJALUKA - The RS minister of interior, Dragan Kijac, talked in Banjaluka with deputy IPTF commissioner, David Kriskovic, on the IPTF assistance to Serb policemen, especially in the training activity.

SARAJEVO - The director of the Serb Radio-TV, Ilija Guzina, will be buried in his native-city Fojnica, near Gacko, on Sunday April 20.

BIJELJINA - Deputy high representative, Michael Stainer, stated in Bijeljina that the donors conference in Brussels may begin as soon as in May if RS and Federation of B-H adjust their own legislations with the Dayton accords and other international documents. In a tribune organised by the Helsinki Board for Human Rights RS Office, Stainer referred to the work of the joint institutions and the implemtnation of the Dayton agreement, in addition to answering questions by attenders, mostly Serb refugees from the Croat-Muslim Federation.

VUKOVAR - Although expected yesterday, the official electoral results in the Srem-Baranja District were not announced even today, which indicates that the Croatian party and UNTAES are trying to fabricate the final outcome of the elections. Official results will be announced on April 21 or 22.

BEOGRAD - The Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS) assessed in Belgrade that the elections in the Srem-Baranja District were

"irregular and unfavourable for the Serbs, primarily because of two-day voting and many-day votes recounting". "Irregular elections are very legible signal suggesting to the Serbs what awaits them in the reintegration process and how much they can relay on the international community and the Belgrade regime", concludes the DSS in its communique.

BEOGRAD - The Serbian Radical Party (SRS) evaluated the US announcement of negotiations on the Kosmet as a proof of an anti- Serb mood among world powers and their wish that "Serbia recognises the occupation of its old territories".

MOSCOW - A general consent for the signing of an agreement regulating relations between Russia and NATO, on May 27 in Paris, represents the most significant result of Russian president Boris Yeltzin's visit to Germany. There are estimations in the official circles in Moscow, that all details of the agreement are yet to be worked out, including the date of signing.
