APRIL 1 1997 EVENING
NEWS REVIEW, REPUBLIKA SRPSKA
BRCKO - The arrival of Supervisor for Brcko, Robert Farrand, was delayed
for the end of this week due to technical reasons, stated Carl Bildt's
representative in Brcko, Matthew Ris. He did not revealed details, but said
Farrand is expected to arrive between 4 and 6 of April. The confusion was
caused because of undefined continuation of IPTF mandate in the Brcko area,
SRNA learns in circles close to OSCE. The UN Security Council
approved enlargement of police presence in Brcko from the existing 30
for additional 197. Deadlines set by the Dayton agreement and arbitration
decision are being moved without any explanation, so instead of expected
Farrand's arrival, Ris only informed Brcko mayor Miodrag Pejic, that the
Supervisor "is to arrive".
BANJALUKA - About twenty Serbs, refugees from Kljuc, faced numerous
humiliation by Muslim authorities during their attempt to visit graveyards
in Kljuc and Senica. As several persons testified, Muslim authorities first
allowed the visit, but instead taking them to Orthodox graveyard, they took
them to the neighbouring Laniste, alleged site of a mass grave. "We are
embittered because we were not informed that before visit to graves of our
relatives we should have to visit some Muslim graveyards", stated Zora
Klepic.
BANJALUKA - The UNHCR spokesman in Belgrade Mons Niberg, stated his concern
over the decision of the cantonal authorities in Sarajevo not to allow
Serbs or Croats to move into their reconstructed apartments. At a regular
press conference, Niberg said UNHCR invested 6.8 million DEM into
reconstruction and repair of 1,156 apartments in Sarajevo, into which it
intended to move their pre-war owners. UNHCR spokesman, Chris Janowski
stated in Sarajevo that UNHCR was not satisfied with the way
authorities of the Sarajevo canton carry out UNHCR-funded programme of
repair and reconstruction of apartments.
BEOGRAD - The Assembly of Serb nationals living abroad appealed
humanitarian agencies to continue deliveries of same quantities of
humanitarian aid for Yugoslavia, because all available resources are
exhausted, and citizens are in a very difficult position.
BANJALUKA - The president of the Democratic Patriotic Block, Predrag Radic,
warned in Banjaluka at possible economic consequences of any delay of the
donors conference for B-H. Radic said $ 840 million was raised at past
donors conference in Brussels, of which the B-H Federation received $ 325.6
million and RS 11 million only.
