SARAJEVO - The president of the National Assembly of Republika Srpska (RS),
Dragan Kalinic, assessed the two-day Assembly session as "difficult, but
successful". He added that the National Assembly is gradually becoming a
real venue of debate between RS parliamentarian and non-parliamentarian
parties. Kalinic summarised that the Assembly Programme for 1997 - worked
out jointly by all Houses of Representatives - was adopted. "The priorities,
according to the Programme, are the RS economic development, accommodation
of refugees and displaced persons and protection of participants of war",
stated Kalinic.
SARAJEVO - The adoption of Law on Ministries, Law on Government and
Assembly Programme for 1997 are the results of the National Assembly
session, stated the president of the House of Representatives of the
Serbian Democratic Party (SDS), Vojislav Maksimovic.
SARAJEVO - The vice-president of the RS National Assmelby, Nikola Poplasen,
assessed that the Serb Parliament come out with a series of acceptable and
positive elements, and thus created a chance to install democracy in the
National Assmelby. According to him, it was an already heated multi-party
atmosphere in which certain legal arrangements were found.
SARAJEVO - The RS National Assembly unanimously adopted conclusions about
the status of the Serbs in the Serb District of Eastern Slavonija, Baranja
and Western Srem during the process of the so-called peaceful integration
of the District into Croatia. In the conclusion they appealed the
international community to ensure the level of autonomy for the Serbs in
the District essential for the stability of the whole region.
SARAJEVO - The RS top leadership informed His Holiness Patriarch of the
Serbs, Palve, of the current developments in RS, reads a communique from
the RS Ministry of Religion. They discussed the arbitration over the inter-
entity boundary line in the area of Brcko, as well as the activities of the
RS leadership in foreign affairs.
