SARAJEVO - SFOR spokesman, Yan Houston stated in Sarajevo that SFOR seized 11 multiple-barrel rocket launchers from the Muslims Army on December 21, reports the Croatian Radio, Studio- Herzeg-Bosnia. The operation was carried out during the checking of the production process of the arms factory "Bratstvo" in Novi Travnik.

SARAJEVO - French defense minister Charles Mion who is paying a visit to the French troops in the Dayton B&H supported the formation of special international police forces for arresting indicted war criminals, reports AFP.

BELGRADE - His Holiness the Patriarch of the Serbs, Pavle, backed demonstrations of students of the Belgrade universities, who have been protesting for more than a month against the annulment of the second round of the local elections in Serbia. In a letter sent to the students, the Patriarch said that "the Serbian Orthodox Church (SPC) welcomes and blesses their evangelistic and human attitude, praying to God for His help".

BELGRADE - This evening, the Zajedno [Together] coalition leaders appealed to some 60,000 citizens gathered at a meeting in Belgrade not to allow any incident to happen tomorrow what is, as they stressed, "the regime's intention". "Tomorrow, at about 15:00 hrs we are going to gather on our old place, and for that time let them hold their meeting", said the president of the Civilian Alliance in Serbia, Vesna Pesic.

NEW YORK - The UN Security Council extended the mandate of the 1,200 UN soldiers on Cyprus to June 30, 1997, and called for undertaking diplomatic efforts to unify the island that was divided in 1974, reports Reuters. In a Resolution that was unanimously adopted. the Security Council condemned a series of incidents in which three Greek civilians and a Turkish soldier were killed for the last few months, warning that violence on Cyprus reached the level that have not been seen since 1974.
