NOV. 13, 1996 DAY

NEWS REVIEW, REPUBLIKA SRPSKA

LOPARE - The president of the Lopare Municipal Assembly, Slobodan Bogdanovic, stated that the Muslims from the Municipality of Celic are refusing to negotiate on resolving the problem which emerged when their soldiers and civilians violently entered the village of Gajevi, near Koraj. "Last night, we talked with representatives of the IFOR US and Russian forces at their check point in Bare, and so did representatives of the Muslim Municipality of Celinac, separately", said Bogdanic, adding that on that occasion the Muslims have refused to talk with the Serb representatives, without offering an explanation.

CELIC - More than 100 Muslim women from Celici and the nearby villages, unsatisfied with the decision made by IFOR on banning the Muslims from entering the village of Gajevi, on Mt. Majevica, blocked the check point of the IFOR Russian Brigade personnel along the inter-entity line at Bare. The Republika Srpska Police is keeping an eye on the developments and is not for now interfering with the incident.

ZVORNIK - After Muslims had entered the village of Koraj, in the Municipality of Lopare, the RS Ministry of Internal Affairs acted adequately, assessed the president of the branch of the Serbian Democratic Party, Stevo Radic.

ROME - The Milan daily, Corriera Della Sera, focuses its attention on Muslims who violently entered the RS territory, near Gajevi, concluding that "they are not refugees, but armed persons who performed a classical attempt at a military occupation". The Italian agency Adnochronos, relates the statement by IFOR's spokesman in Sarajevo, Simon Haselock, who characterised these Muslim armed entrances into the RS as "well planned and a real provocative campaign".

SARAJEVO - RS minister for communications and transportation Nedeljko Lajic, talked in Pale with representatives of the Pupin- Telecom company from Belgrade about the reconstruction and development of the telecommunication system in RS. Expressing his pleasure with the talks, minister Lajic pointed out that representatives of the Pupin-Telecom company have presented their production programme and technology achievements. "Since the RS telecommunication system was considerably destroyed in the war, it is necessary for us to reach an agreement on cooperation so to build up the system and improve signal transmissions", assessed Lajic.

SARAJEVO - RS minister for refugees and displaced persons

Ljubisa Vladusic, talked in Pale with the coordinator of the Association of Irish Refugees, Peter O'Grady about expanding the activities of the humanitarian organisation to the RS."We agreed to that the first move on the part of the humanitarian organisation will start in Lukavica and Trnovo with the implementation of the social-medical programme for elderly and exhausted persons" pointed out Vladusic, adding that the Association of Irish Refugees has provided 95,000 DM for this work.

BANJALUKA - The vice-president of the RS Economic Chamber, Svetislav Mudrenovic, and the attache of the Czech Embassy for economic relations in the Dayton B&H, Bratislav Mach, reached an agreement in principle on recovering the economy and the economic cooperation between the two Republics.

BRCKO - The settling of the zone of separation between the RS and the Croat- Muslim Federation is suspended until further notice, this was decided at the highest level, stated IFOR commander in Brcko, lieutenant-colonel Steven Leifeld. "Such restrictive measures are undertaken because of ever more frequent Muslim attempts at illegal and uncontrolled settling the zones which are in the responsibility of the multinational forces", explained Leifeld.

BELGRADE - A plane of the Jugoslav Army Air force crashed above the community of Batajnica, near Belgrade, SRNA learns from unofficial sources close to the Jugoslav Army. According to unconfirmed information, the pilot has survived because he catapulted while landing a plane.

HAMBURG - International gangs are the only national and multiethnic organisations truly functioning in the Dayton B&H, especially in the Muslim part of this "acquired" state, warns the German daily, Welt. As the paper writes, this is primarily concerned in Sarajevo, which has during the past war shamefully become famous by resaleing and smuggling humanitarian aid coming from all over the world.
