[01] FOR A BETTER WORLD
Serbian President Slobodan Milosevic received on Friday,
Oct. 4, 1196 the participants and the hosts of the 23rd
international Meeting of Children "The Joy of Europe".
Congratulating his young guests the 5th of October, the World's
Child's Day, President Milosevic said: ' With greatest pleasure
I am welcoming your staying in Belgrade, the gaiety and the real
joy you are bringing into Belgrade's life, the same way you are
bringing these into the life of each city you arrive in. The joy
you are carrying through Europe makes the continent more
beautiful, brings together the European nations, promises that
one day the older ones, living in Europe and throughout the world
will live in harmony, be joyous and happy just like their
children.

[02] A MEETING IN MORE FAVOURABLE CIRCUMSTANCES
The Superintendent of the Kosovo County, Mr. Aleksa Jokic,
had a talk yesterday in Pristina with the UN Special Reporter for
Human Rights in former Yugoslavia, Ms Elisabeth Renn. It was
underlined, during the talks, that this visit of Ms Renn is
taking place in more fabourable circumstances than the previous
one. It was also pointed out that things are evolving positively,
the proof for this being the recently signed agreement between
Slobodan Milosevic and Dr. Ibrahim Rugova on returning to schools
of Albanian national minority students.

[03] MACEDONIA UNCONDITIONALLY SUPPORTS THE ADMISSION OF FRY INTO THE INTERNATIONAL ORGANIZATIONS
"The Republic of Macedonia supports the readmitting of FR
Yugoslavia into the International Organizations. Our support is
consistent and unconditional", stated yesterday at a press
conference in Skopje Macedonian Foreign Minister Ljubomir
Frckovski. He underlined that the inclusion of Yugoslavia into
international organizations will condition whether the future
relations of the Balkan neighbouring countries will be on the
agenda soon.

[04] GERMAN BUSINESSMEN IN BELGRADE
About 50 businessmen from the largest and most renowned
German firms, headed by the Deputy Minister of Industry Dr. Hans
Shila, will begin today, in the Belgrade "Sava Congress Center"
their two-day talks with their Yugoslav counterparts. The visit
is organized by the German Ministry of Industry, the Chamber of
Industry and Commerce and the Yugoslav Chamber of Industry and
Commerce. Traditionally, Germany has been among the most
significant Yugoslav foreign trade partners. For the first eight
months of this year, Germany and Yugoslavia have exchanged goods
for the sum of 359 million dollars, thus making Germany the
second biggest among the current Yugoslav foreign trade partners.

[05] BALKAN LAWYER'S CONVENTION
Attending the Second Convention of the Balkan's Bar
Association, which is being held in Belgrade, are the delegates
from Yugoslavia, Greece, Rumania and Cyprus, while the
representatives of Macedonian Bar Association attend the
Convention as observers. At the convention,'Belgrade Declaration'
was adopted, inviting the governments of Balkan countries to
enable, by legal documents, the free circulation of lawyers,
meaning that the lawyers from one country can represent their

[06] RENEWAL OF SERBIAN CHURCHES IN ROMANIA
The program of survey and protection of Serbian immovable
cultural heritage, outside the Republic of Serbia, envisages
that, this year, the restoration of two Orthodox churches in
Temisoara will be completed. By next year, works on the Orthodox
church in Arad will commence. The reconstruction of the Church
of Saint George and the Orthodox Cathedral in Temisoara will be
jointly financed by the Serbian Ministry of Culture and the
Serbian Orthodox Bishopric in Temisoara.

[07] DRNOVSEK ACCUSES CROATIA
Slovenian Prime Minister Janez Drnovsek accused Croatia
again that "it did not have enough political will to settle the
controversial issues with Slovenia". He stated that he is deeply
convinced that the objective long-term interest of Croatia is to
join Slovenia on its way to the European integration and thus,
indirectly, underlined the dependence of Croatia upon Slovenian
foreign policy.

[08] PROBLEMS WITH MINES
The pilot-project for the return of 5.000 Serbian refugees
to Western Slavonia and of Croats to the region of Eastern
Slavonia, Baranya and Western Srem is being carried out by
Serbian firms as well, since the Croats have agreed to remove the
mines in this region only this week, said Maruan Elcurry,
Belgrade UNHCR Office spokesperson. The agreement on the
activities of Serbian and Croatian committees was signed on
August 20. 1996 and the removal of mines has begun accordingly.

[09] FROWICK: MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS ON 22. - 24. NOVEMBER,1996
The municipal elections in Bosnia will be held from the 22nd
till the 24th November, 1996, stated yesterday in Sarajevo the
OSCE Mission Head in Bosnia, Robert Frowick. At the press
conference, Mr. Frowick said that "the decision was brought in
spite of learning that we will be engaged in a high-risk
operation", underlining also the international community full
support of this task.

[10] EQUAL AID FOR RS AND B&H FEDERATION
US Government Representative Mr. Allen Yuri stated last
night in Doboj that American Administration will "continue to
help the Republic of Srpska" since they want to provide identical
aid to both RS and B&H Federation. At the "Sveti Sava" school
building, the American delegation met the representatives of
25.000 refugees from Doboj.

[11] BOSNIAN CROATS DEMANDING PROTECTION OF THEIR RIGHTS
Bosnian Croats have left the session of the newly elected
cantonal assembly of Sarajevo, insisting that the majority Moslem
party should protect the rights of the Croatian community in this
town. "Since we have no guarantees that the vital interests of
Croats in Sarajevo will be protected, and since we do not know
whether the Croatian representatives will have any influence in
passing significant decisions, we do not want to participate in
the work of such an assembly until these conditions are
fulfilled', stated the Croatian Democratic Community communique.

[12] CONTROVERSIES IN MOSTAR
Moslem radio Mostar yesterday reported that Mr. Ivan
Prskalo, the Mayor of Mostar, all the more openly advocates the
interests of Croats in Mostar only. Three days ago, the new Mayor
did not approve that the Croatian flag be removed from the newly
erected bridge on the Neretva, built with European Union funding.
Eight ambassadors of European countries refused, because of this,
to attend the ceremony inaugurating the bridge.
