[01] The German Minister of Cooperation and Economic Development visited
Romania
The visit to Romania by the German minister of cooperation and economic
development is indicative of Germany's favourable attitude to the reform
program of the new executive in Bucharest. The statement was made at a
press conference after talks the German guest had with President Emil
Constantinescu and Prime Minister Victor Ciorbea. The German minister
voiced his government's commitment to further supporting the reform process
which started in Romania as bilateral cooperation is strengthening. The
minister spoke highly of theADepartment for Minorities under the Romanian
Government, whose work contributes to the adequate settlement of
minorities' issues. We recall that the German guest visited Romania in May
1994, when the governments of Romania and of Germany signed the accord on
technical cooperation. The document regulates the performance of the non-
reimbursable economic assistance program for Romania. Currently, the
overall capital invested in Romania by Germany amounts to 218,9 million
dollars. RRI-RADOR, April 2

[03] OSCE welcome the Romanian government's concept on ethnic minorities
OSCE High Commissioner for Ethnic Minorities Max van den Stoel met in
Bucharest with Romanian foreign minister Adrian Severin. "I find
interesting the concept promoted by the Romanian Government rejecting the
assimilation of ethnic minorities, while favouring their integration", Mr
Van den Stoel said after the meeting. He added that inter-ethnic harmony
could develop on this basis. For his part, Adrian Severin said Romania was
no longer a problem country, in terms of ethnic minorities treatment. But
he pointed out that assistance from the high commissioner's office for
ethnic minorities was still necessary. The assistance was needed both
inside and outside the country; in the latter case it was the identity of
the Romanian minority living in the neighbouring states tAat had to be
protected. RRI-RADOR, April 2
[04] The chairman of Lockheed Martin corporation visited Romania
"I chose to visit Romania primarily because your country was the first
which adopted a certain NATO standard", the chairman of US corporation
Lockheed Martin said at the end of his visit to Bucharest. Norman Augustine
specified that, besides the C 130 Hercules planes and a FPS 117 radar, the
company hopes to endow the Romanian Airforces with F 16 planes. The US
delegation has met with President Emil Constantinescu, with members of the
Government and military officials. "The corporation has already started
interceding with the US Administration and Congress, supporting Romania's
bid to join NATO in the first wave", Mr Augustine also said. RRI-RADOR,
