From Athens (West Airport) there are Olympic Airways flights to Zakynthos,
year round (45'). The airport is 6 km from the city of Athens, while the airport
of Zakynthos is 4 km from the town, and passengers are transferred by Olympic
Airways buses and by taxi.
The Suburban Buses (KTEL) of Zakynthos (leaving from the station of Suburban
Buses, 100 Kifissou str., Athens) run daily to the port of Kylini, on the
northwestern coast of the Peloponnese. The distance between Athens and Kylini is
286 km and the trip lasts almost 4.5 hours. From Kylini there are always ferries
leaving for Zakynthos. The distance is 18 n.m., and the trip lasts approximately
an hour and a half.
There is daily train service between Athens and the village of Kabassila, in
the prefecture of Helia (16 Km from Kylini). From there, a local train (only in
the summer) or a taxi transfer passengers, who wish to continue their trip to
Zakynthos, to the port of Kylini (the trip from Athens to Kylini lasts 6.5
hours). Next, passengers board on the ferryboat.
