The island of Leros produces top quality cheese products -the best known being the local cheese "myzethra"- fresh honey and the soft-drink called "soumada", made of bitter almond. Due to the Dodecanese duty-free, at the local stores one may find cheap liquor, clothes, glasses and other imported products from Europe and Japan. In the local folk-art shops there are traditional hand-woven fabrics, embroidery and ceramics.
