PIG SLAUGHTER 26th of December IERISSOS The Pig Slaughter takes place at the village’s square, where guests are offered roasted pork and local wine.

“THE BLACK THRESHING” Third day after Easter IERISSOS The feast is dedicated to the 300 locals who were slaughtered by the Turks, in 1821.

HALLOWEEN On the last Sunday of the Halloween POLIGIROS On the last Sunday of the Halloween, there is a big feast with traditional instruments, charriot fun and disquised people, who are offered sausages, pies and olives. The people of Poligiros call this custom “Kats’ amaka”, which means: have a free meal.
