CONVENTION ON THE LAW OF THE SEA

The United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, which was signed in December 1982 and came to effect in 1994, has been added to the collection of on-line documents archived on HR-Net.

KATHIMERINI ON HR-NET

The prestigious daily newspaper Kathimerini is one of the few Greek newspapers with a presence on the WWW. Emphasis is given to commentary, financial news and classified advertisements. HR-Net is proud to host a mirror copy of the on-line edition.

HELLENIC ASTRONOMICAL SOCIETY

The Hellenic Astronomical Society, the main professional society of Greek astronomers, has prepared a Home Page which is mirrored on HR-Net. It provides information about the society, its organization and administration. It also includes news and upcoming conferences, as well as links to related Web pages.

TOURIST INFORMATION ABOUT GREECE

Infoxenios, a visitor's guide for Greece, provides detailed information on transportation, accommodations, recreation, cultural and historic background, and useful addresses and phone numbers. This guide, which is available in English with the Greek version expected soon, is created by Areia under the auspices of the Greek National Tourist Organisation and mirrored at HR-Net.

THESSALONIKI - CULTURAL CAPITAL OF EUROPE '97

During 1997, Thessaloniki, the second largest city in Greece and capital of Macedonia, will be the cultural capital of Europe. Its Web Page includes information on all the events scheduled and also gives an overview of their impact on the city. Currently, most of the material is in Greek, but the English section will be expanded soon.

THE AHEPA HOME PAGE

The Hellenic Resources Network is proud to be hosting the official web site of AHEPA, the American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association, at http://www.ahepa.org.
AHEPA is the largest Greek heritage group in the world, and a major community service organization in North America. AHEPA's pages map AHEPA's chapters, regional districts and national activities, as well as information of interest to all Greek Americans.
Their site was developed by Orama, Inc.

PHILHELLENIC PERSPECTIVE

Philhellenic Perspective is a monthly electronic journal written by John P. Nordin, who describes himself as a philhellene: someone who 'loves Greece' and its history, culture and beauty. In his words, "Such love is not always uncritical, but always sympathetic. Greece is a hard country to learn about in the United States; I started this journal to share my love of Greece with others and to help the process of spreading information about Greece". Each issue contains information on web sites, books and other resources about Greece as well as a travel guide.
