Monteagle Stearns: The Security Domain: A U.S. Perspective
ABSTRACT

The ability to protect US interests in the Mediterranean necessitates effective collaboration with both Greece and Turkey. Traditionally, policies between branches in the U.S. government tend to contradict one another. The executive branch tends to place more emphasis on size of armed forces which the legislative stresses more political issues such as human rights. The White House tries to balance the two. Since the end of the Cold War, there is a good chance that the U.S. will take the problems between the two countries more seriously.
