The American Embassy in Tirana issued the following announcement to
Americans in Albania on January 24:
"There have been reports of violence throughout the country due to
citizens' frustration with the problems of pyramid investment schemes. We
recommend that American citizens stay away from crowds and exercise caution
at all times."
