For Immediate Release
Political forces disappointed with the conduct and results of May
26 parliamentary elections in Albania have called for public
demonstrations to protest the elections. One unapproved
demonstration in central Tirana on May 28 was dispersed by police
and resulted in injuries to participants and bystanders. The U.S.
Embassy in Tirana strongly advises American citizens to avoid areas
where political protests are expected, to leave the area of
spontaneous demonstrations and to avoid any large gatherings of
people.
