Franco-Turkish 1921 Agreement
The Franco-Turkish Agreement of 1921 in the original French text and translated into English both published as a parliamentary paper by the British government in 1921. The Agreement was signed by Franklin-Bouillon and Yussuf Kemal in Ancara on October 20, 1921. Included is a letter from the the Turkish Minister of Foreign Affairs Y[o]uss[o]uf Kemal to the former minister Franklin-Bouillon also dated October 20, 1921.
Correspondence between the British and French Governments regarding this treaty was exchanged between November 5 and December 15, 1921 and published as a parliamentary paper. It provides an interpretation of the articles of the Franco-Turkish Agreement and addresses British concerns regarding the Agreement, conflicts with earlier treaties, implication for minorities in Asia Minor, etc.
To quote historical researcher Mr. Stavros Stavridis who prepared them, "[these documents are published with the] hope [that] this information will help to clarify any misapprehensions etc".
They were made available to HR-Net through the kind intervention of Mrs. Stella Jatras.
