The Museum aims at establishing an international, contemporary art centre in Thessaloniki.
The current collection was made possible largely through substantial donations by Alexander
Lolas and Franz Geierhaas, from 1979 onwards.
It comprises important pieces of painting, sculpture, construction, installation and etching created by Greek and other renowned artists from Europe, America and Japan.
The permanent collection of the Museum is temporarily housed in the specially adapted halls of the Filkeram-Johnson firm at Foinikas, while its occasional exhibitions are held at the Helexpo-T.I.F., the place where its new wing is now under construction.
Up to now, the Museum has organized important exhibitions as well as Fine Arts events, in
co-operation with major European museums and a variety of Greek cultural establishments.
