An innovative co-operation between the public sector and private initiative, the "Athens International Airport S.A." is a privately managed company, responsible for the construction and operation of the airport "Eleftherios Venizelos" for a total period of 30 years.

Partnership

The partnership between:
the Hellenic Republic (55%) and
the private consortium (45%) comprising of:
Hochtief AG
ABB Calor Emag Schaltanlagen AG
H. Krantz-TKT GmbH
Flughafen Athen-Spata Projektgesellschaft mbH
is combining forces to realise a DM 4.110 Billion project. The total estimated cost of the project amounts to DM 4.1 billion. This amount excludes the investments of Olympic Airways and Hellenic Aerospace Industry for their facilities and the investments of concessionaires (mainly for fuelling, cargo, catering, hotel and other commercial and real estate developments) The largest entire airport greenfield development in Europe.

Sources of funding

The sources of funding are:

European Investment Bank Loan
(Greek State guarantee): DM 1,950 million

Commercial Banks Loan
(Hermes guarantee): DM 610 million

Airport Development Fund: DM 490 million

EU grants-European Cohesion Fund:
DM 455 million

Greek State grants: DM 275 million

Share Capital (payable by the Consortium):
DM 250 million

Subordinated dept (payable by the Consortium):
DM 80 million
