Evangelos Yannopoulos: has been a legendary figure among Greek lawyers, with a particular notion of politics. He has become a contributor to «SAMIZNTAT» with his circular 73951.

ANACHARSIS III: world traveler, his steps brought him to Greece and he decides to write down his impressions.

Panagiotis EVAGELOPOULOS: an economist (M.A.), actually working on his doctoral dissertation in Athens University.

Aristidis KARATZAS: studies the history of Medieval Greece and of its wider region. Based in New York since 1974, he is a publisher of academic books; also active in the efforts of the Greek lobby.

Kostas KARIOTAKIS: a poet and a man of letters, he was also a civil servant in the Ministy of Social Affairs. Further to renowned poetry collections, he was the author of articles on public administration as a Union leader. He committed suicide in Preveza (1928)

Giannakis KASOULIDIS: Spokesman of the Clerides Government, he was called to the Foreign Affairs portofolio at a crucial point of the Cyprus issue.

Victor PAPAZISIS: a publisher, used to write for «ECONOMICOS TACHYDROMOS».

Dimitris TSAKONAS: a professor of Sociology at Bonn University and Panteios School of Political Science, he was considered one of the «ideological fathers» of the April 21 Colonels’ putsch. He served as Foreign Under-Secretary and Minister for Culture in military Governments of the early Seventies.

Georges VASSILIOU: President of the Republic of Cyprus (1988-93) He has been associated with new approaches to the Cyprus issue during his period in office.

Babis DERMITZAKIS: Has studied English literature and philosophy; PhD. Author of 6 books, translator of 10, speaks 9 languages. Works at the Athens University.

Alecos KRITIKOS: although he has been working on E.U. matters for 15 yers (the 8 of which in Brussels) he keeps asking questions about «Europe» - not only for professional reasons.

Georgia MEGA: a teacher at Ziridis School. Paints, experiments at pottery, in love with Alexandros.

Thomas MITSOU: an M.P. for the Party of Human Rights of Albania.

Thanos P.NTOKOS: Doctor of International Relations and Strategic Studies of Cambridge University.

Alkiviadis PSARAS: lawyer.

Jean-Louis DENVERS: Has abandonned first the University and then the «couloirs» of Bruselles (impression soleil levant) to find himself in international finace. He thinks that the merchant banking is the best vantage point even for European affairs.

Niki KALTSOGIA-TOURNAVITI: Professor of Constitutional Law at Panteion University

Stelios PERAKIS: Professor of International Law. Has tried to combine University research and policy-making,first as chairman of EKEM and then as Secretary General for European Affairs at the Greek Foreign Ministry. His punishment was the post as Greek representative to the IGC.

Giannos KRANIDIOTIS: Junior Minister for Foreign Affairs. He has been involved since 1983, in the elaboration of most foreign policy options currently applied - both in Greece and in Cyprus

Ioannis S. KATSOULAKOS: Professor at the Economics Department at the Athens Economics University Research Fellow at CEPR

John SPRAOS: a professor of Economics at LSE, he has been a teacher to several of today’s Greek University professors. He has taken part to the incomes policy-led stabilisation of the U.K. economy under Labour; he was a major influence on the 1985- 86 Simitis stabilisation programme of the Greek economy. Presently he is studying the long-term perspectives of the Greek economy

Spyridon ITHAKITIS: was born in Exogi, Ithaki. Used to write on public affairs. The last few years reads a lot, translates enough and writes less than he wants. Has written this article 15 years before the fall of Constatinople.

Ides NICAISE: teaches at Leuven University, working mainly with employment issues. Has prepared part of the materials for the European Social Policy Forum.

Stelios PAPATHEMELIS: starting from the Centre party and having served as an independent M.P., he has ended in PASOK. Has served as a Public Order Minister and Macedonia-Thrace Minister; is considered a major proponent of the «patriotic wing» of PASOK.

Kostas VERGOPOULOS: A political economist, of the free-thinking sort. Disappointed early enough of dogmatisms, in West and East alike, he is convinced that it is ideology that builds economics and not vice-versa. Teaches and discussed in Europe and around the world.

Pavlos PALEOLOGOS: used to write a column of social interest in "TO VIMA" daily. He used to excercise his talent of social observer in far more fields than he was credited with.

Antonis SAMARAS: as a rising star of the Right and a Foreign Affairs Minister of the Mitsotakis Government, he was indentified with the Macedonian issue. He founded «Political Spring» Party, that is presently vegetating.

Nikos ANASTASIADIS: a lawyer, a low-key politician. President of DISI, the largest of Cyprus parties and the major partner of the Clerides Government coalition.

VASOS LISSARIDIS: a veteran of Cyprus politics and the Cyprus issue, traditionally adopting shocking positions and using extreme criticism.

Stelios ARGYROS: a industrialist and member of the administration of a State industrial complex, he then was elected president of the Greek Industrialists Union which he set to extrovert course. A Euro-M.P., he works in Strasbourg and Brussels, feeling rather stifled all along.

Haris KASTANIDIS: has been elected an M.P. for Salonika since the age of 25; he was one of the rare PASOK members who kept lines of communication open with C.Simitis when the latter was crossing political desert. He resigned as Transport Minister when he felt he was pointed at by Simitis in a round of intra-Government criticism: his resignation was promptly accepted.

Eleni KATSAROU: Teacher of Litterature in Secondary Education, she received a scholarship from the National Scholarship Foundation and is soon to submit her Doctoral Thesis in Education to the Philosophy, Education and Psychology Section at the School of Humanities, Athens University.

K.N.: A long-time supporter of European integration, he has been more enthusiastic about it the further away he found himself from the European institutions.

Yannis MARINOS: Editor-Director of «Economicos Tachydromos» from 1963 and until 1996, presently editorial consultant to «Economicos Tachydromos» and «To Vima». He used to almost monopolise the role of the child pointing that the King wore no clothes, when that role was not popular.

Cem DUNA: a student, no relative with the negotiator (of the same name) of Turkey’s customs Union with the E.U.

Nikos LEANDROS: works for the Economic Studies Directorate of the Bank of Greece;has written extensively on social security in Greece, has also contributed to the collective volumeof essays «Functions of the Public Sector», published by the Institute for Economic and Industrial Research.

Marios EURIBIADIS: he teaches International Relations at the Economic University of Athens and is Head of the Documentation Service at the Institute for International Relations.

Athanassios THEODORAKIS: Assistant Director General of E.C. D.G. VIII (Development) in Brussels.

Ino AFENTOULI: she insists to remain a journalist.

Theodoris PELAGIDIS: from Salonika. Has studied Political Economy in Britain, France and the US. He reads more, lately English poetry rather than economics.

Sotiris HATZIDAKIS: former minister and Member of Parliament.

Sotiris NTALIS: Has studied Political Science and International Relations. Fellow at the International and European Studies’ sector, school of Political Science and Public Administration of the Athens University.
