NEA DEMOKRATIA ON FOREIGN AND SECURITY POLICY

SAFE OPTIONS - UNCOMPROMIZED STANCE
The political platform of NEA DEMOKRATIA aims at restoring the prestige of our country in the international scene and the development of a multidimensional foreign and security policy, on a long term basis. The basic characteristics of this policy will be stability, reliability and active participation of our country in European and world affairs.

POLICY GUIDELINES
Nea Demokratia will:

• Establish a National Council for Foreign Policy, which will include representatives of all the political parties.
• Create the position of a Permanent Under-Secretary for Foreign Affairs. This institution will ensure the long-sought continuity of national foreign and security policy.
• Enhance the European Dimension of national foreign policy.
• Settle pending national issues with tranquil determination.
• Strengthen the deterrent capabilities of the Hellenic Armed Forces.
• Strengthen existing footholds of our national diplomacy abroad and pursuit of intense diplomatic activity.
• Promote initiatives for issues pertaining to the Hellenism of Cyprus.
• Support the Hellenic minorities abroad.
• Strengthen existing financial ties with the countries of the European Union, the Balkans and the Black Sea.
• Take full advantage of all available economic diplomacy resources.
• Utilize to the maximum extent the powerful dynamics of Ecumenical Hellenism.
